My first trip into the big Red Stick. Dateline early ‘80’s drugs are still safe and drinking and driving is not against the law yet. One of my best friends from high school left Georgia to go to school at LSU and be close to his father. Mike asks me down for a weekend to go to an Ole Miss game when UGA wasn't playing. A bunch of us load up like a Hunter S. Thompson trip (again early ‘80 or late ‘70’s). When we get there on Friday morning Mike meets at his frat house and can’t believe we made alive. We spill out of the car and sleep until late Friday night. After we get clean up and dress we start drinking and other things to help us thru the night (start sing Little Feet’s Dixie Chicken at this point) it was a long and fun night for all. All the LSU folks made us feel right at home, man are there pretty girls in the South or what? To be young again, oh well, the whole day Saturday we have the best time and the tailgating was great. As we were getting ready to go to the game I had on jeans and a red shirt with a UGA hat, Mike said to use his LSU shirt and hat so that I wouldn't get any business from the fans. Going to the bathroom at Death Valley a fan comes up to me and yells “you all be a coon ass”and in my best Hunter Thompson voice I said “Hell Yea” at that time he gave me a drink off the bottle he had and I had a new best friend. What a fun weekend. These days I just a boring old businessman getting away for the ball game. But OH the glory days when we were young. I really look forward to a good game and good time.
