Earlier I sort of questioned Saban for this quote "Nothing is at stake here" in reference to the Ole Miss game.

Sabanfan replied, although I disagree with his approach his point was accurate. I will trust Saban on this one.

He was right. Saban said this today.

"Sometimes, when I'm talking to you, I'm talking to the team through you," he said. "You think I don't know what's at stake? I mean, everybody does. But why make it bigger than it is?

"You guys don't understand. You just can't get it through your head that when you make things high stakes, it creates expectations and anxiety that is not good for performance. So why would I change? Why would I go tell the team today, 'This is the biggest game you're ever gonna play in your life. And if we don't win, we're gonna push you all off a cliff.'

"Why would we do that? How would that make us play better?"

I am an idiot, I apologize to the King....

Although I agree Elvis is King and he deserves the entire nations apology for letting the Lisa Marie/Michael Jackson thing happen

He is dead. So Saban is now the King...

So when you see him say.

"The King ladies and Gentleman, the King"

Of all the things I love about Saban, his awareness of, and emphasis on, player psychology has got to be what I love the most.

    Let the man coach

I love that he exposes all the idiots in the media for what they are....idiots. If I were him, I would only hold like two press conferences a year...they are a complete waste of time. No one seems to put any thought into what they ask. "Coach talk about the game". Wow that's a riveting question! DUH! They watched the game, they have a VCR...let the man coach. Just shut up, buy your keg, park your car, cheer at the game, re-hash all the awesome plays with your friends and support the team. Let him coach...he shouldn't have to field a bunch of BS questions from a bunch of people who can't even hold his jock strap when it comes to knowing football.

Absolutely, I thought all that psychobabble was BS until I took all the 300-400 courses and Leadership schools etc. in Psyche.

Saban could calm the bull run in Spain. THEN chew the butts of all the bulls for not sticking to the game plan and running through the streets. Genius, pure unadulterated genius.

I think we all know we have the real thing in Saban. He is like Spurrier was to Florida. He has a great knowledge of football. He is good with players and has discipline. He expects alot from everyone around him but he expects even more from himself.

I think that good Football coaches make great leaders in anything they decide because they know how to get the most from people.

    You heard it here first.

"Saban For President" when his coaching LSU days are over. I hope that is in the year 2040.
