Gibbs is leaving his post at AU ad DC. 10-15 names are making the rounds as possible replacements. One is Muschamp. What do you think his strengths are?

Good motivator. Other than that it's tough to say, because it was always unclear exactly what and how much he did for our defense since Saban was the main man at the helm.

i miss him... he'd look all coked out, headbutt helmets and yell at players on the field... he seems to be a great motivator. When you play football, at least in my experiences, it's a lot easier to learn from someone who has the same mantality as you. I've had real calm football coaches (as miles seems to be) and it just doesnt work out... but who knows how much he knows about defense, if pelini were to ever leave though, I'd be happy for muschamp to come back, and I DONT want him at auburn, that's for sure

How good is Muschamp without Saban? That is the great unknown.

After spending time in the SEC as a DC I can't see him entering the picture at UA. :hihi: :hihi: After all, we don't even have a position open comparable to the money nor title he had at LSU or Miami. The [IMG] icon is a wonderful thing.

I've heard Muschamp's name in regard to replacing Gibbs at AU but I also don't see him taking that loss in $$.

Seriously, he's a hell of a DC. There are only a few we've seen in the SEC over the last few years that rank in the same category as he does when it comes to coaching defenses.

I wouldnt be so quick to dismiss Muschamp as a candidate for the Auburn job. He was a grad assitant there after earning a masters degree at Auburn. He could easily fall into the same category as someone like Dunbar but going the opposite way. I've not seen any reports or quotes from Muschamp to even indicate if he likes or doesnt like the NFL but if he doesnt like that life he may very well look hard at the Auburn job. Furthermore, if he has dreams of becoming a college head coach then that would even be more reason to look at Auburn. The money for a DC at Auburn is more than likely comparable to his coin at the Fish.

I just hope he loves the NFL and doesnt aspire to become a college coach. If not he will certainly take a hard look at Auburn and I would rather not see him there.
