This is a list compiling the number of 4-star and 5-star players on college football teams to come up with the most talented teams. The writer admits how flawed it is and acknowleges that star rankings are relative and many of these highly rated star players are not going to play because of their youth. However, I thought it was pretty interesting. LSU is in 1st with the most darkhorse recruits on a team with 8. http://heismanpundit.com/?postid=1306
The dark horse ranking is great, that shows that our guys are doing legit recruiting, not just copycat offering. Jacob Cutera, Jonathan Zenon, Brett Helms, Jacob Hester, Tyson Jackson, Ciron Black all have potential to be first day picks and Tyson and Ciron are definite possibilities for the first round, maybe even Cutrera. though it's a little early with him.
Interesting... I would've guessed we'd be 4th, behind Texas. I also figured USC would be even further ahead than they are. I'm really happy about that, but there could be even more listed.
It does show the great ability of our coaching staff to see talent but don't forget that they actually had to develop that talent as well. And that's one thing that LSU does very well.
I found it interesting that right next to the rankings you see a Carmen Diaz look-a-like model wearing an F-USC t-shirt. :hihi:
We'll be adding another dark horse to that list by season's end. Wait until everyone gets a load of Harry Coleman at SS. He'll be spelling Steltz this season, and being a special teams maniac again. He's gonna have everyone bug-eyed when he gets some quality time at SS.
What's this all about? We should lock this game in. Who knows if both schools will still be on top but it would be fun for us that can't let it go. Les Miles Ripped. Again. July 11th, 2007 ...this time by Glenn Gilbeau of the Monroe, La., News Star (and formerly of the Baton Rouge Advocate, LSU's hometown paper). So, quit ripping USC, Les, until you schedule USC. USC has openings in 2011. Do it. The nation has wanted this game since 2003 when LSU and USC should have played in the national championship game. It would put your schedule where your mouth is, and it would also make sense. But no, Miles doesn't want to do that. He'd rather just keep speaking out of turn like he did at halftime of the Tennessee game, which was followed by an apology... and like he did at the recruiting bash, which was also followed by an apology... and at the Pensacola stop of the spring speaking tour. Miles thinks that Florida's national championship last year proved once and for all that the SEC is the best conference in the land. And, therefore, according to Miles, if a team wins the SEC it deserves to play in the national championship game regardless of how easy its non-conference schedule is. Wrong, Middle Tennessee breath.
