Any idea if we are going to see more option with Randall in there this year? Jimbo has thrown it in every once in a while but I'd like to see it go from a wrinkle to more of threat this year....I watched some 2002 games the other day and MR definitely has the wheels for it. I might be a lone wolf on this one but I love watching option football. I was disappointed to see Nebraska hire Callahan and go to the west coast offense. The option made their games a lot of fun to watch...anybody hear anything on this? :geaux:
i think the style of option that JF likes to run is out of spread formations and from the shotgun.. i dont want to see classic option (triple, veer), i'd rather see the option run in a more inovative way.
Look for sprint action Randall will run ... keepers and roll out passing ... bank on it ... and give the LSU offense another dangerous edge against already stretched-thin defenses ...
I would like to see a lot of the misdirection plays LSU got really good at late in the season last year. Fisher is smart and will use Randall's running ability as another weapon of the offense.
Nick will run the option from time to time, usually inside the 20, to keep the defense off balance and to force rival defensive coordinators to expend vital practice time planning for it
LOL. People remember Marcus as a running QB and giant threat running the ball, mostly due to his long run in the Cotton Bowl, but he is a lot like Mauck. He will run some plays designed to get him into open space to get a first down but I don't think we will se him running a whole lot. IMO he's as good of a runner as Matt was and his more of a drop back passer. We'll see, but I just don'y think we see Jimbo calling too many running plays for the QB with Marcus under center. With Matt Flynn under center we will run more.
Win a national championship and then change the offense? Makes sense to me! lol Like Mauck, Randall will run the option a couple of times a game to keep defenses off balance. I suspect the real threat will be the QB draw out of the shotgun.
Missing the point By the middle of the season, Russell will be the quarterback. Our young wide receivers (soph. and fresh.) we be ready. Jimbo will open up the offense with many one back, 3 and 4 receiver, shotgun formations. With Russell's arm and receiver's speed why would anybody want to see more than 1 or 2 options a game. Throw the ball depth, throw screens and bubble passes, and give the ball to Vincent in open space. Recipe for offensive success.
