If you are headed up I-85, just north of Charlotte, pull off at the China Grove exit, and visit Gary's.

One NC BBQ book called it a "high class" place cause it used to have a sign that said, "Shirts and Shoes Required." Also don't wait to be seated it is, and I quote, "Honey, this is a find a seat and eat kind of place."

    Here is the outside...rather unassuming.

    The carefully decorated interior.

The waitress serving up my footlong:

Finally, the real deal. "Small tray of Q, with a footlong and a fountain Cheerwine!":

Now it certainly ain't Cajun, but it sure is good.

As long as they don't put that cole slaw on my goddamn pig sandwich.
