It's been done to death, I know, but the PC approach isn't working. These people understand one thing, and one thing only: violence. Lebanese protesters torch Danish mission Muslims upset over Muhammad caricatures; Danes urged to leave Lebanon AP Updated: 10:11 a.m. ET Feb. 5, 2006 BEIRUT, Lebanon - Thousands of Muslims rampaged Sunday in Beirut, setting fire to the Danish Embassy, burning Danish flags and lobbing stones at a Maronite Catholic church as violent protests spread over caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad. Troops fired bullets into the air and used tear gas and water cannons to push the crowds back after a small group of Islamic extremists tried to break through the security barrier outside the embassy. Demonstrators attacked policemen with stones and set fire to several fire engines, witnesses said. Black smoke was seen billowing from the area. Security officials said at least 18 people were injured, including policemen, fire fighters and protesters. Witnesses saw at least 10 people taken away by ambulance. thats a good response. but seriously, if i was into magic like the rest of you chumps, i dunno if i would feel like i was in any position to call out another fellow who believed in the magic just like me. like if i believed in unicorns, i wouldnt b chastising you for believing in dragons or fairies. once we have decided to be ****ing lunatics, anything is possible.
but violence is justified if god commands for it to be so. in fact god himself loves to kill people, and in the bible he slaughters peeps. so i guess in some sense these crazoids are acting like our lord. hallowed be their names.
But if God did NOT tell them to do it, then what's the answer? Oh yea, I know the answer. They're simply primitive animals with very low cognitive skills.
thats true. they are stupid morons who will believe any crazy thing they can come up with, and then kill for it. that is why the only long term solution is to create a worldwide culture of rationality. where everyone deals with the world as it is, without sorcery and voodoo and allah. and the first step is that we stop religious tolerance. no more pretending that religions are good for the world. we need to start disrespecting people who spread lies, regardless of who they are. priests or mullahs or popes or osamas, they all need to be treated like the worthless idiots they are so we can slow the indoctrination of the next generation of religious killers.
Would you describe your self as an idealist? Just curious. There's more athiest & non-religious people than ever. That trend will likely continue for a long time. But it'll never take to the majority.
no. i dont really know what you mean by that. i consider myself to be sane, and religious people to be lunatics who baffle me with their ability to function as competent humans while filling in the blanks of their knowledge of the universe with stunningly nonsensical and primitive mythology. and i wouldnt mind so much, but religion is too dangerous, too violent, i have seen and heard the murdering firsthand, and i dont want to get really dramatic, but i will tell you i dont like seeing it. and you might say: "yes, but martin, islamic killers are not like american christians" and that is true. but only because the muslims had the unfortunate luck of being born into the religion that happens to be doing the killing right now in history. the other religious people are just as stupid, and believe things just as crazy and are just as gullible. they would be doing the killings too if they had grown up in a different environment and been taught the superstitions they teach in damascus or riyadh. i cant listen to religious people talk about the murderousness of islam without pointing out that they are just are weak-minded themselves, just they happen not to have been taught the violent version of the mythology. they still are eating up the fantasy just as happily. they still fall in line and believe what they are told, and to be honest, i sort of hate them for it. i am not sure that that is true (percentage wise, obviously). it might be, but history is long, and there have always been people who were sane enough to believe in reality over baseless fantasy. i think these sort of trends are cyclical, and i realize that technology and accumulation of human rational knowledge helps make people leave myths behind, but religion is persistent. even now, hardcore fundamentalists of all faiths remain prominent, and in places like europe, muslim crazies are spreading like wildfire. i think about this more than anything else, and i could talk about it more than anyone wants to hear. probably, but then again, human nature doesnt change very quickly, and people might always need to make up lies to calm themselves down. if i had lived a thousand years ago i might have thought we would be over this imbecility by now, but here we sit, murdering each other by the thousands over ghosts and fairies. who knows, evolution could create more rational brains. but in 100 years i would guess humans are obsolete anyway. i think people need to think about how allowing faith and religious views to be placed on a pedestal and respected as sacred is a bad idea. i think if you are tolerant of this crap, you are part of the problem. this is becoming a rant....oh well, cant help it, here i go... once i was watching cnn, and (i may have told this story before) they had this crazy cult guy rael on there. he is the head of the raelians, who are sort of a kooky group of mostly harmless wackos. this guy rael was dressed crazy, but not really different than a mainstream catholic priest or cardinal. and these cnn reporters were laughing at him, taunting him with silly questions, and generally being disrespectful pricks to the guy. rael says: "would you talk to the pope like this?, would you ask him these questions?" cnn reporters (smug): "you sir are no pope". and this to me is unbearable, i want to beat the life out of both of the reporters. that guy is exactly the pope. he has the robes, the mystical BS, even the odd sort of faux-noble attitude. there is one difference between this fool and the pope, and that is number of followers. i wonder how many followers this guy would need before people would take his lies seriously and even secular reporters are nervous and respectful around him. if i really gave a damn, i would weep at the sorry state of the human race. lucky for me i can forget it for the most part and happily do my meaningless daily routine without going insane. if i can do it, i dunno why everyone else cant kill the fantasies and boogy-men and just exist. apologies for the ranting. i like to go off from time to time.
