I agree there is a culture of violence and too many in some of these communities don't do much to stop it, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the DA office just readily dismisses murder cases when they hit a tiny snag. Thank God the U.S. Attorney had so little faith in the DA that he stuck the guy with a federal charge to keep him in jail in case this exact thing happened. Oh, and lo and behold, the NOPD found said missing witness. If only the DA would've elicited the help to find her in the first place, instead of putting in a motion to let yet ANOTHER killer go free.
The people that elected him just don't care. Hell, the whole racial discrimination lawsuit won him votes, even though he lost the case.
