Clanton is a po-dunk peach farmer town about 30 or so miles south of B'ham. Never heard of this guy or that publication.
The most shocking part of this was that they had a newspaper. All they are known for is peaches. How did anyone come across this?
"Alabama is just the opposite. The Tide’s offense looks both solid and explosive, but the defense has many question marks, especially in the front 7. Alabama gets its tough conference games, beside Auburn, at home, but an adjustment period has to be expected for Nick Saban and his staff." way to hedge your bet doofus
Exactly. Miles and Co. didn't need an adjustment period. but, but, but, but. Expect to hear that a lot from the gumps this season.
Amazing the bombs the Gumps throw this way. There are few if any head coaches who could have done what CLM has done with our program with where he had to start. You never hear in the attacks on Miles what he and the players had to overcome his first year at LSU during the whole Katrina experience. Last year was JR's team and he had plenty of opportunity to win the two games we lost. This guy Stephen Dawkins just wants to be Paul Finebaum.
I've been reading threads on the Bama boards and they seem convinced that Nick alone will change everything and that Les is a worse coach than Curley Hallman. In fact if LSU wins the championship this year, many will count it as another Saban victory. I don't think they are delusional, but they certainly seem to be single-minded this year. Some pontificate loudly that LSU will lose to Bama because Les can't hold Nick's straw hat. Actually though, most are realistic about their teams problems, but they all seem convinced that Les cannot coach the game of football. They don't have much to back it up, but they are obssessed with Les. And, of course, if Les wins the game, it will be because of the 18 or so players still on the team that Nick recruited. Nick will have beaten himself. You wouldn't believe how they are pumping up and spinning Miles' comments and trying to make it into locker room material. I'm amazed that they don't seem to talk much about the LSU team, but have thread after thread about Les Miles and his "big hat" or his "blasting Bama" or his "fear of Nick" or his "lack of class". Several have predicted that Les will be fired if he doesn't beat Nick, as if any coach with an 85% winning record has ever been fired. Others say that Les must win a national championship this year or LSU fans will turn on him. They blame all of their problems on Shula, which they have now cured with the hire of Saint Nick. It's kind of sad, actually . . . and it reminds me of LSU during the Curley Hallman years--Bama has lost it's swagger and they are upset that LSU and Les seem to have it. Like Agbarn, they are more concerned about the "class" of the LSU coaches or the fans and don't seem to realize that it is the very good LSU team that is coming to Tuscaloosa that they should be concerned about. These ain't the confident, "stay above the fray", self-assured Bama fans that we have been used to for several decades. I miss those old Bama fans. They had style. They were stoic about the failure of Dubose and Curry and the treachery of Francionne. They had an admirable sense of humor about the moral demise of Price. But something fundamental changed under Shula. God help the new Bama nation if Nick doesn't turn things around. They may be tearing their crimson guts out.
