looks like the nation's #1 QB recruit, a Georgia commit, has seriously injured his knee "horsing around".......the hits keep coming for the Dawgs HP's Stafford dislocates kneecap, could miss opener 03:10 PM CDT on Thursday, August 4, 2005 By TIM MacMAHON / The Dallas Morning News Highland Park quarterback Matthew Stafford could be sidelined up to six weeks after injuring his knee Tuesday, coach Randy Allen said. Allen said Stafford, a senior ranked as the nation's top quarterback recruit by Rivals.com, dislocated his kneecap when he was hit from behind while players were horsing around during a workout. Stafford will probably undergo arthroscopic surgery, Allen said. Allen added that the earliest Stafford could return is two weeks, meaning he might be available for the season opener Aug. 27 against Denton Ryan. Stafford could not immediately be reached for comment. The 6-3, 210-pound Stafford, who has orally committed to Georgia, passed for 4,693 yards, 54 touchdowns and only 15 interceptions the last two seasons. He was named the MVP of last month's Elite 11 camp, the nation's most prestigious quarterbacks camp. Allen said junior William Webb would be Highland Park's starting quarterback while Stafford was sidelined. Webb, whose older brother, Alexander, starred at quarterback for Highland Park in 2001, played receiver last season. E-mail [email protected]
