cc is a great pitcher. he was abused last year by the brewers and he singlehandedly carried them to the postseason. but he was spent. hes one of those happy-go-lucky guys and should adapt well there. I predict mucho success for the big fella and hope he succeeds despite my hatred of the yanks. that opinion may change once i see him in pinstripes. although they should help him look svelte, much like david wells. :yelwink2:
Breaking news: Cubs/Padres deal for Peavy is dead in the water. On to the next team. Astros? If they did that, Astros could conceivably be favored to win the Central.
JP is a hard sell right now. Pads want sticks and seem to have a hard time working on salaries. JP carries a price and to be honest some folks might just be privy to the fact San Diego players play without the need or desire to win. JP may be the exception however with him, fans are excited about games every 4 or 5 days. Without him... San Diego needs an overhaul but with a 40 mil cap, nice weather is all you get.
peavy has been making it nearly impossible to trade him. i never thought this deal was going anywhere. even though its likely he stays in the NL if he is traded. probably not the west. so the stros have an outside shot. they will have to trade b-12 shot first but have zero prospects to entertain the offer which is what the pods will be seeking. along with a couple star veterans. maybe they want b12 shot since they traded away khalil for nothing in return and currently have no SS. nah, on second thought, the astros have no shot at JP.
It is a weird deal but the Pads are posturing for a team sale. Owner got burnt by a disgruntled bitch and it has been tear in the beer since. Kind of hard to have bargain basement sell offs and still be able to look good enough as a team to sell. What a friggin joke. Pro sports in San Diego could very well be non-existent in the near future if tax payers continue to not want to build another football stadium.
was actually a good sign. I cant believe i just said that. one year and only 2 million? i didnt think you could sign jose lima for 2 mill. heres something funny: yeah ok manny. terrible bluff. the Phillies have reached an agreement with outfielder Raul Ibanez on a three-year, $30 million deal. thats a lot of money but a very underrated player.
Ibanez is one of the best left-handed hitters vs lefty pitchers with a better OBP and Slug Pct lefty on lefty. So it's like getting a right handed bat in the lineup. Great pickup for Philly. Tampa should have gone after him.
Yeah, he's got to be elated to come out of that hell hole. The level of excitement about sports in Starbucksville is about as gloomy a picture as their daily weather.
