SEC has informal agreement to add Missouri, according to report - ESPN "The SEC has informally agreed to add Missouri to the conference and move Auburn to the SEC East, according to a report in the Birmingham News." Oops, didn't see this in the other thread. Merge away or delete.
Expanding beyond these 14 will be touchy for some. The SEC has said that any expansion will be into areas that are not already occupied by other schools. The only way to expand and still be the SEC is to go into North Carolina and Virginia, possible Maryland. I would hate to see the feel of "Football in the South" die because of money.
If this is true wouldn't another school besides Auburn need to move to the East? Adding Tamu & Mizzou to the West would be lopsided.
AU moving to the west would improve LSU's chances of getting to the SECCG. Think about it, we lose AU and gain tam and mo. Bama would almost surely have to get AU as their new permanent east, so they get no gain out the deal. FL would have to play AU every year, so it would hurt them. I like it. I would like BAMA to go with AU to the east, and the west get Vandy, but then I am just a little biased. PS Is it just me or does tam and mo sound like an old drunk couple living in the trailer park?
I would think so too. Unless they dont plan on putting A&M in west which wouldn't make sense. So, I see Bama and Auburn moving to the east which would stregthen the east considerably and weaken the west. nevermind can't add. we would only need 1 team to move. Would make both sides 7/7 (LSU, TAM, MO, BAMA, ARK, MSST, MISS) (UGA, AU, SC, UK, VANDY, FLA, TN)
I was thinking about this the other day. With the expansion of 2 more teams to the SEC to keep the number of SEC games the same we'd have to drop our SEC East yearly game wouldn't we?
THIS! "The enemy of 'good' is 'better.' If they muck with the SEC they WILL lose much of the down home Southern appeal of these BCS-type games we have almost every other weekend! Who wants to dilute the SEC, whose teams nearly own the post-regular season spots? I hope this is not a strategy of weakening, to create a 'level playing field', 'cause it sure is fun to be rooting LSU & the SEC in its current form--just my $.02.
