I reviewed the commitment list of every SEC school for the 2006 recruits today on Rivals.com. LSU and Georgia are the only schools with 13 commitments, and the LSU quality of recruit is head and shoulder above everyone else. This should bode well for LSU for several years to come.
programs see the rewards of winning a NC a couple years down the road. a lot of this recruiting spotlight can be attributed to lil' nicky.
Exactly. I would say we are still riding the wave from what Nick Saban did for the Football Program. More than W's and L's. If Les Miles can continue to build on this. The program has a bright future.
That fame only gets you consideration. Closing the deal and getting the kids to commit (and ultimately sign) is purely up to the staff and the relationships they develop with the kids. I promise you if Miles was not getting along with these recruits, he wouldn't have the commits he has now. Yea, they'd list us on their laundry list..and maybe even visit, but if the staff were not great recruiters it would be for naught.
Thank you! Les is not just some side show coach... This guy is top of the line... If I had to guess, I would say that he will get us more :crystal: than Nick did... Simply b/c of the state of the program now, and his ability to build on it
Well, I've been on vacation for a few days, went up to Bull Shoals Lake in N. Ark. Real nice lake formed by damning up a river, bout 100-200 ft. water depth, 85 degree water temp, clear for swimming. You guys must be smarter than me. When we named Miles as HC in Jan, some were happy, some sad. I was pretty non-commital cause I didn't know much about him. I basically said "give him a chance". Coaching at Ok. St. can't be a picnic. How many blue chippers want to go to Stillwater? Not many, my guess. I hear its pretty small and isolated, which is a turn off to most 18 yr. olds. They had a poor program before Miles, and he brought them consistent respectability. That could be a GREAT coaching job. On the plus side, he beat Ok. twice, GREAT. On the minus side, he lacked consistency, losing to lesser teams the years he beat Ok. He was also up big against Texas, by 28 pts I think, and managed to lose the game (bad). Moving on to today, he has a different staff, looks a lot better than the staff at Ok. St. He has better talent and facilities, but will face tough competition, although facing Ok, Texas, A&M, and Tx. Tech is no cake walk, so he has faced tough competition before. Les has assembled a good looking staff. The players seem to like him. He's off to a terrific looking recruiting start with a gaudy looking list of committments. I like what I see so far. I'm not ready for a coronation or anything, the tough tests lie ahead, Az. St., Auburn, Tenn., Fl., Alabama (they are NOT going to forfiet the game), Ole Miss, Arky.
