This is all a very odd situation. On one hand, the LSU fanbase kinda deserves to have Miles leave as soon as he possibly finally wins them over. On the other hand, he deserved most of the criticism he has gotten. The end of game situations vs. OM in 2009 and UT in 2010 deserved all the criticism they got. They were both completely inexcusable for a multi million dollar a year coach. His record and accomplishments at LSU, however, speak for themselves. I can really think of nothing to do but sit back and see how this one turns out. I think it would be a BIG mistake for him to leave, especially now on the cusp of a possible serious title run. I wouldn't blame him if he did though. I hope he stays, and we play Michigan for the National Title in the Superdome next year. That's just dreamin' though. We could make it, they definitely won't though.

Criticism and wanting him gone are not the same thing.

The video is kind of disturbing and actually has completely flipped my thinking he was going to stay.

That was pretty telling he is going to leave. If he does stay, I would argue something happened in the negotiations. Which then begs the question, would you want a coach to stay who has the "want" to be somewhere else ?

Big bummer if he leaves, as one of the resident sunshine pumpers, I cannot think of a single coach that will come here now (this late in the game) that will have to time not only salvage the recruiting class, but be able to continue the excellence LSU fans come to expect now.

Shame, I have always asked the Negatigers who do you think we could get if Miles left.
No one could answer with a legitimate response. Sure dumb ones like Saban and CHucky ones that have NO chance of happening.

I am sadly worried we will end up like UT and get some second rate coach....

Unwarranted criticism and criticism are not the same things either, and I've heard a lot more of the former than the latter the last few years. The program is in tremendous shape right now and I'm personally thrilled he's not going anywhere. The great thing is if he won't leave to go to Michigan, he won't leave to go anywhere.

Agreed. It's also possible Miles felt like he didn't give himself a chance to fully consider everything last time because he had to shut it down for the good of the team.

I think maybe even now he doesn't know which way he's going to go. He's taken this program a step higher. And yes I said he's improved on what the Revered One [pause so we can all genuflect:popcorn:] left. The young talent was good enough to finish with 11 wins in the toughest division in football - with poor quarterback play. We'll be a better team next year, that doesn't mean we'll win more games but we should be a better team. But if Miles leaves I think it's very possible we'll take a few steps back for at least a year.

Alleva came out last week and said LSU will do whatever it can to keep Miles. Should Miles just say, naw, that's OK Joe...I'm here til I retire if you'll have me...without playing it to his benefit? This is business...and Les is playing the game. He'd be stupid not to use this to his advantage.

And greedy TO. If the contract he just extended last year was good enough then it should be fine still. Like I said earlier, if what we're paying him isn't enough I'd tell him to gtfo. That job SHOULD be a much higher salary, you can see two formidable coaches have already passed on it...tells you something.

Please don't lump us all together in the fanbase that "deserves to have Miles leave as soon as he finally wins them over" group. It isn't, and never was the "LSU fanbase". It WAS a very vocal minority. Now it's just a pretty weak silent minority.

Greedy? It's business. And who said anything about money?? If I were Miles, I'd play it like this...

I'd want an extension until I was at whatever I considered to be MY retirement age. Miles is currently 57, so I'd say 62...but that's just me.

I'd want language for bonuses if I win the west, the SEC, any BCS game, and of course, the ever popular "highest paid if I win the :crystal:".

I know you're a sharp guy, Tiga. Your mind is a steel trap. You're disappointing me, bro. :hihi:
