So far, that is all I have heard from them....

It's not the scheme, it's not the gameplan, it's the players..... the players didn't do this, the players didn't do that.... blah blah blah...

If these guys don't start taking some of the blame upon themselves, the players are going to become more and more disheartened, and Miles will lose this team just the same way that Gerry Dinardo lost his team.

If things don't change, the players will quit playing for Miles.

I did not hear any post game interviews. Surely they are not still using this excuse.

Yes he did, blamed it on poor execution and good play by Tennessee. Maybe he thinks Rick's older brother Casey is still the QB at UT. Miles and his staff let a weak armed kid that would be 4th string at best on our team bring his team back from a 21 point halftime deficit on our own field and walk away with a victory. Having Miles as a coach seems to be like adding a ball and chain to every players leg and it's dragging a very very talented team down quick. :bncry: :bncry: :bncry:

Miles said after the game that the team would remember this game for a long time. I have a feeling that the coaches will remember even longer.

It was disgusting play calling in 2nd half. Less Miles' passive calls drowned us. There is no way we could just sit on that lead! Totally coaches' fault.

Here's the real translation of "poor execution.":

We, as coaches, failed our team in teaching them the basic techniques of covering receivers and shedding blockers. We failed to manage the game. We failed to come up with a plan, that if executed, would have resulted in victory. We failed in evaluating our personnel and had the wrong people on the field on both sides of the ball. We underestimated that donut slamming, NCAA fink Fulmer and got our butts handed to us and gave the game away.

Pay attention to reality. Those kids love playing Pelini's defense not because it's easy and simple, but because he exerts no discipline and there are no consequences for shoddy play and blown assignments. They disliked Saban's scheme, not because of its complexity (as they would like us to believe and probably believe themselves), but because of the standard they were expected to meet. Most kids don't like discipline and college athletes are kids. The real question is how long will the players enjoy all the slack they're getting at practice if it continues producing poor game performance. It's hard to take losing when you expect to win and have grown accustomed to it. Unlike Saban, these guys (Miles and staff) seem disinterested in the process and are only interested in results. There seems to be some serious deficiencies in process and the results are obvious.

One other thing: I suspect that the quarterback competition that Miles and Fisher played up prior to the season was a sham. Reports I heard was that Flynn was ahead, performed better and had a superior grasp of the offense. I think Less and Fisher knew from the get-go they were going to start Russell and they did a disservice to their team, the University and all of its supporters in not giving Flynn an opportunity he certainly deserves. I know that Russell has a great arm and is a favorite of the fans, but he isn't cutting it on the field. He makes bad decisions, is not mobile and looks confused. Fat Phil had no problem pulling his number one guy and going to someone who could produce a win for him. Miles needs to learn from that lardball.

we executed poorly as a whole (team and coaching staff) and Tennessee played almost flawlessly the 2nd half. So Miles is 100 % correct. We have talent, we have this, we have that---then where is it. where is all this unforseen talent people speak of. We don't have a talented team. We have some talented indivuduals. We have no team chemistry and that is Miles #1 job and he has failed and failed terribly. Who is the leader of our team??? By the way, at this point i'll take that weak armed quarterback over JR cause he hasn't showed me too much thus far!!!

The talent was all over the field and on the sidelines the coaching staff just had no clue how to use it. I would like to see what game plan a real coach could have come up with given the wealth of talent we have on offense. Our talent was shackled by the lack of a game plan and no adjustments.

If we would have traded Russell for Clausen before the game Tennessee would have won by 50. Clausen has no talent but the Tennessee staff gave him short high percentage passes to throw and the LSU defensive coaching staff gave him 20 yard cushions and broken coverages. Joe Montana would have trouble moving this offense with the conservative, predictable and unimaginative play calling we have seen so far.

yeah, good job, les. dwelling on this game for a "long time" is much better than a 24 hour rule.:dis:

Its funny how good this team was last year and could execute at times even though
it was just enough to win.
We were in every game and good enough to play in January.

    Now,
This team can't execute and aren't disciplined, look at all the penalties.
Look at all the first downs we gave them that luckily didn't come back
    to harm us.

The coaches say its all about the players?
Thats not a good sign, this doesn't look like the same players under NS.
