Does anyone have an update on the status of fundraising effort? Is there a time table set on building him a new habitat yet? Thanks for any info you can give

(this was discuess before) but so you know. Taf has raised 1.6 million so far but the estimate for his cage is 4 million. Since no one will work on a pay as you go deal. TAF and LSU are waiting to raise the rest before construction.

However Mike is getting older and the Animal rights people are really starting to come down on LSU (LSU is the only school in the nation with an endagered species on campus) so if Mike passes before completion LSU will have a heck of a time getting Mike VI... Because of the Liberals unless they get a new habitat for him...

He needs a new one and I wish people we get on the ball.. He deserves the best in the land....

This is what I read in Purple and Gold 3 weeks ago. Just passing that along (The last part was my opinion)

Also for my anniversary my wife got me the Mike the Tiger Book where proceeds go to the cage. It is a must have coffee book for any LSU fan anyway. Its great and has some great stories and pictures of the Mike's over the years. It is to nice for Bathroom reading. Its part of my collection now.

Really nice looking book and a great read about LSU and its history

Thanks for the response. I didn't know this was a previous discussion, I missed it.

If I could afford to contribute I definitely would, but I'm still struggling to find a full time job after graduation. I hope we can get that new cage built.

If that nimrod with the truck stop in Ramah can have tigers, then LSU can damn sure have one!

Well I read he is catching some serious flak from the tree huggers as well. However this is a huge difference from a University with one of the best Vet programs in the nation to some hillbilly at a truck stop. I agree they should take those wonderful animals and provide them a good home.

To me there is nothing more wonderful in the animal world then a Bengal Tiger, except for a Thoroughbred race horse in full stride...

Hate to sound like a chick there. But man they are wonderful to look at...

By the way DarkHornet I was not giving you a hard time. My post came off as "Well you missed it". Not my intention.

Good luck on finding a job, when you do toss 5 bucks into the I like Mike donation box. Every cent helps....

One day we could be without Mike if people like us dont help. The left has a huge lobby group and dont like people in the South. Keep up the fight Tigers ! Get Mike a new home and the left out of our yard !

    www.mikethetiger.com says....

"The cost of the project is estimated to be around $2.5 million with construction starting very soon."
