It is being reported here that Mike Stoops WILL be on the sidelines and taking part in the coaching for the Sugar Bowl. There has been video of him doing that.
Guess he ain't too concerned about 'Zona right now.

That was part of the agreement when he signed on with Arizona ... it will be the dead period for recruiting.

I may be wrong, but recruiting is only one part of a program I would think that someone inheriting a program in the shape of Arizona would want to devote as much time as possible to getting it off the ground. But that's just me.

I would be surprised if he is on the sidelines....makes no sense. He's dead wood.....the only thing that makes it a possibility is that he is Bob Stoop's brother.

If Jimbo would have taken a HC job this month, would you have been opposed to him consulting with LSU to develop a gameplan and be at the game?

I wouldn't be opposed to Jimbo helping out, but what gets me is that OU has been expressing confidence in Brent Venables handling the defense by himself. If so, then why does Mike Stoops need to be around? Maybe not as much confidence as expressed?

He's probably around because he helped get them this far. Why not? It's a recruiting dead period. Why can't he go help and have some fun? He can get back to business with Arizona next Monday.

I'm sure you will see him on the sidelines.

It's not like he has to prepare Arizona for a bowl or anything.

What's the big deal?? Why is it a problem if Mike Stoops wants to come back for 1 last game and be on the sidelines with the players/coaches he's been around the last few years? Whether he's calling play's or just wanting the be with the team on the sideline's, I doubt it's gonna have negative effects on the ZONA football program. Actually, just him being there could help the program and his recruiting. Potential recruits/players will see his face on tv, hear him being talked about, and observing his loyalty. I only see it as a positive.

I kinda admire the guy for it........
