A lot of rumors running around that Michigan might have to forfeit there win against Penn State...

The Michigan football team could face Big Ten sanctions for using a player who was ineligible under conference rules.

Athletic director Bill Martin said at halftime of the game atNorthwestern that he wouldn't rule out any disciplinary action at thispoint, even the forfeiture of last week's Michigan victory over PennState.

Martin said the athletic department made a mistake in theinterpretation of the league rules regarding the mid-season enrollmentof freshmen in the case of Artis Chambers. Chambers, who's fromIndiana, arrived at Michigan in January.

The mistake was discovered Thursday, and the school immediatelybegan discussions with the conference. Martin said he expected aresolution in the coming weeks.

Chambers, a safety, played primarily on Michigan's special teams. He saw action in each of the Wolverines' first four games.

Chambers did not travel to Evanston with the team. He will not playthe rest of the season, but will remain enrolled at Michigan and canpractice with the team, Martin said."
