Michael Clayton says he'll be a Tiger in 2004!

ONE POSITION MAN: With the emergence of freshman safety LaRon Landry and others, it appears unlikely wide receiver Michael Clayton will play any more defense this season, barring injuries. Clayton said he hasn't practiced at defensive back for the past two weeks, but that he continues to take mental reps.

"Everybody is healthy in our secondary and the young guys have turned out to be great players," Clayton said.

Clayton also said he plans to come back for his senior season because "right now I don't know what the future will bring."

Clayton has caught 45 passes for 705 yards and six touchdowns this season.

That's awesome. I hope he still feels that way when the season comes to an end. If Clayton and Mauck both come back next year, that could be a special season.

 

More special than even this one...

 

I wonder if he would come back if we won it all? Clayton or Mauck really... Of course it's hard to complain when you are national champs.

 

I think I could live with Clayton leaving if it means we are National Champions.

 

Well, what if we win the national title this year (far-fetched I know, but not as much as in the past)?

Perhaps they will come back, knowing we will still be loaded (we lose three starters on offense and four on defense) and thinking about the possibility of a repeat, maybe an undefeated season?

Two is twice as nice.

 

Maybe he likes the sound of "Russel to Clayton for the score!" about a thousand times.

 

If he comes back, he will leave LSU with many LSU All-time records !!

 

We will need Mauck and Clayton's senior leadership during that killer road schedule next year.
