Well, LSU basketball hass certainly turned it up a notch but it's a little late. However, if we can win out and win a couple of games in the SEC tourney, do we go into the NIT as one of the favorites? (Win them all we're in the big dance!) If you take a good look at our schedule, we have lost a lot of close games which, if we would have won, we would be looking at a pretty decent seed in the NCAA tourney because the SEC is defiantly, top-to-bottom, the strongest conference this year. Seriously, who would have thought Vandy would be ranked ahead of UK and Ole Miss would be in first in the west? Saturday was hands-down the best we've played all season and we saw a hint of Saturday's team against UK. If we can play to that level and Big Baby can go with it, IMO, we'll be in good shape for whatever post-season tourney we go to. Your thoughts?
I must admit that this has been in the back of my mind for a while. As bad as the season has gone, we are literally just a few baskets from having a winning record in the SEC. The games have been close and competitive and the overly optimistic part of me holds out hope that we can get the job done in the SEC tourney and win it. The team has looked better as of late, which is typical of Brady's teams.. to improve as the season progresses. But man.... I believe it's just a dream for me to think we can win the SEC tourney. Then again, I opted not to go to the UF game this past weekend because I did not want to watch yet another loss in person.. At least not one that would be a blowout loss...
the key is getting out of last place in the west... if we get to 5th, we play #4 in the east, which is by no means a powerhouse, then we play #1 in the west, who again is by no means a powerhouse, then #2 in the east, THEN florida... that gives others teams a lot of time to beat florida for us... but it also would require us to play well 4 days in a row.
hell, I have to believe that if we win our last 2 regular seasons games that we'd be in even if we just get to the SEC tourney final That would make us a 20 win team with wins over Florida, Texas A&M, and then more quality opponents in the SECs. And the thing about our season is that we have no HORRIBLE loss. I mean, we have lost our share of games, but we have: a. never been blown out. b. never lost to a blatantly horrible team, like nicholls or tulane I may be seeing purple and gold, but I think a 20 win SEC team should get in automatically.
