We keep hearing that LSU isn't getting any respect from the national media, but one guy who does seem to appreciate the Tigers is Mel Kiper, Jr. Tonight on ESPN radio he had some great things to say about our receiving corps, about Alley Broussard and particularly about the offensive line. Mel's quote was, "LSU has one of the best offensive lines, if not THE best offensive line in college football." The line has indeed been doing a great job lately of both run and pass blocking since their mediocre early season performance and bad game against Florida. I would like to hear some opinions on what sparked this turnaround. Was it Saban's meeting with them following the Florida game? Is it the seasoning of Whitworth and Livings/McGill on the left side of the line? Have things just simply come together on their own? Let's hear some informed opinions.
It takes time for the OL to begin to work as a team. It took a few games. Peterman moved to right guard and a new left guard was inserted. It took a while. I imagine the motivational speech by Saban and the loss to Florida got their attention.
