http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24238168/ I think we need a new topic mainly, however, after reading this article seems like alot of pandering to me from John McCain, I like the fact that he acknowledges that bridges need to be rebuilt from the Republican party and the black community. But, i dont know if he offers anything new to this voting bloc. I do like the fact that he knows the history and can speak on it in a favorable way. I hate to admit I am paying more attention to McCain as of late. your thoughts
I'm happy to see a Republican Presidential candidate reaching out to minorities. I don't understand why the Republicans have just sort of conceded minority votes to Democrats. Where I stand right now on the candidates: Clinton--there is no way I would vote for her. Obama--he's very appealing, but I'm starting to really worry about his inexperience. McCain--I've never really liked him that much, but the more I hear him talk as the Republican candidate, the better I'm liking him. He's much more to the center than other Republican candidates--and that may be a good thing.
mccain has compromised too much to shore up the GOP voters for me. ive just gotta decide if i think he was lying or he seriously believes in the new positions.
yeah, I find it funny that all the republicans who "flipped flopped" Kerry to death are fine when it's McCain filp flopping. I guess it's not a lack of charactor issue when someone filps to their side.
Thats pretty unfair. I did hammer Kerry for being a flipflopper, I am do the same at McCain. However out of the 3 choices we are being presented with, I will still choose McCain. The other too way to liberal in their beliefs to recieve my vote. But then again, i am just a bitter typical white person.
All of the candidates have to try to make everybody happy and piss off as few as possible so they will say anything. That's why it's important to check their legislative record. Obama still comes in third as far as a track record. All of them come up short on executive experience. If a candidate has been a governor or a mayor, then we can see the kind of people that he actually hired and what kind of initiatives he took. It's harder to tell with three candidates from the Senate.
The only way Republicans can get Blacks to vote for them in any numbers is if they become liberals. And its iffy then. Sorry, but that's the way it is. Republicans have to vote their principles which often puts them on the opposite side of the street as Blacks. Their values are just too different. When I was in college in the 70's I also said the Republican Party needs to try and attract more black votes. But they should not sacrifice their principles to do it. So they can attend all the African-American groups, and go to all the African American museums, and attend all the African-American churches they want. It will not change a thing.
