Did anyone watch the replay of the game yet? I was watching it again earlier tonight and on that play where Mauck threw that interception on the first play of the fourth quarter, Devery Henderson was wide open on a post pattern on what looked like broken coverage, but Mauck threw the ball to Duane Bowe instead, and when he threw it, he inadvertently threw it behind Bowe, which caused the interception. Had Mauck seen Henderson so wide open instead, it would have been an easier throw to make, and it would have been a touchdown that I believe would have broken OU's back and busted the game wide open. Damn! But hell, we won the damn game anyway!

Tape doesn't lie. I saw the same thing. However Mauck was being harrassed so he probably didn't see Henderson. He doesn't have the arm strength to get the ball down field unless his feet are set.

He was being pressured and had to step up, then right and threw off of the wrong foot again, which is when he throws most of his interceptions. No velocity on the ball when you do that as he doesn't possess the arm strength to get away with it. That was the hardest thing for Rohan to get over also and when he did he was a great QB. That is also the thing that separates the QB's that make it in the NFL and those that don't, getting the ball delivered on time.

Problem is I agree with the commetators view earlier in the game. Mauck had already thrown an interception down the middle. We were up 21-7 and there was no reason you had to throw down the middle and risk losing sight of a DB. Should have just went with the down and out patterns or screens to run the clock. Without that interception, a sloppy offensive game turns into a dominant performance on both side of the ball. But like I said before, good defense ALWAYS makes a game appear sloppy. I know I didn'y need that drama of the 4th quarter. I lost 3 years off my life with that.:D

All in all you have to agree that LSU's offense did a more than credible job against a stellar OU defense. LSU sustainted 3 long drives of more than 75 yards where OU had no sustained drives (longest drive was 48 yards in the 4th quarter that stalled at the 13).

Matt Mauck could have also run for the first down as well since the middle of the field was open. I thought that his first instinct would have been to allude the rush and go up the middle. Maybe then he would have seen Devery open and completed the domination on the scoreboard to match that which was taking place on the field.

I don't want to sound hypercritical, but that interception let them back into the game. Anyone who has played knows that you NEVER throw the ball down the middle late. I'm very happy that the defense bailed us out, but Oklahoma had no business being that close. :eek:ldskule:
