"The kid who generated the most buzz from the Broncos staff and vets was seventh-round QB pickup Matt Mauck, the former LSU star. In fact, Shanahan said he has a legitimate shot at the No. 2 job currently held by Danny Kanell. Even Kanell admitted to me how impressive his young protege has been. However, they also understand practice is different than playing against different colored jerseys." http://msn.foxsports.com/id/2649958
I can't wait for the NFL Hall of Fame game tonight on MNF on ABC. There is a high likelihood that we will get to see Mauck take a significant amount of snaps in the game!
Here are some Denver reports on Matt Mauck: A video clip of him practicing, along with interviews: http://www.denverbroncos.com/page.php?id=609&videoID=379 A writeup about him: http://www.denverbroncos.com/page.php?id=334&storyID=2433
Any word on the QB breakdown this evening? Traditionally, the starter will play for a set number of series, not necessarily a period of time (e.g., two or three offensive series, which could take less than or more than a single quarter). If so, Kanell likely plays the 2nd and early part of the 3rd with Mauck possibly finishing out the game (might get in a series for the #4 QB, but that's not a given). If he closes out the game, he could see up to 1.5 quarters of action tonight. A sure sign if he's a serious threat to Kanell will be his playing time and order next week; if he's getting a good look as the backup, he'll come in once Plummer leaves.
Here's a quote from Shanahan: Still think Matt gets at least a full quarter, if not more. That could/should translate into at least 3-5 series.

There's been quite a bit of chatter on the LSU boards regarding the progress made (or lack thereof) by Randall and whether Russell will take over in short order. Either way, it certainly bears watching.
*Sigh* To think that Mike Archer was hired as head coach over Mike Shanahan. Yeah, pretty good call there, eh?
Caddyattack needs to pay attention. Most LSU fans are not talking about lack of progress by Randall. I think Randall has improved and will start this entire season. Nick knows what he is doing. Like Campbell is anything to brag about anyways? I'll take Randall over Campbell anyday.
Matt really struggled tonight in that game. He had two picks (one for a touchdown), both by Sean Taylor (U. Miami). It didn't help that the good passes that he made were dropped by his receivers. I hope this doesn't hurt his stock too much, but it was his first NFL game, so I think the coaches will take that into account.
