Have faith in the coaches and the program. They've proven that they know what they're doing. Also, Mauck wouldn't leave the program high and dry. If he didn't like what he saw at QB, both talent-wise and developmentally, he would have stayed for his last year.

Guess he figured he was leaving regardless so why not see what happens during the draft...

That may not be such a bad thing. Let him play here in N.O. for a
couple of years and then move on to another team, where, if he's
like all the other Saints that have come and gone, he will either
go to the Super Bowl or Pro Bowl...maybe both. STARTING a
career in New Orleans seems to have been a good thing for a lot of NFL stars.

Because nobody gets rid of great players like the Saints.

I feel Matt is the type of guy who would not have made this deicision had he not thought we had capable talent behind him. I wish him well.

Come on, gang! It was a no-brainer...

    1. Why not go out on top?

    - Seriously, what's the odds that LSU (or any school) will repeat as NC from year to year?

    2. He's older; may have a slight chance at the pros, etc., etc.

    - Why risk getting injured?

    3. Unlike Saban, he can't write his own ticket in that there's no extra incentive for him to stay.

    - To the contrary, his "stock" for the NFL will only go down if he has a bad year or gets injured. Why not try his hand now while he has some good stats?!
