is Matt still with the Broncos? Hes still on the roster just not on the depth chart. If so will he play tonight? I'd hate to waste my time watching the Broncos :dis:

He hasn't gotten much PT in the exhibition games. Mostly mop up time in the 4th qtr with players who probably won't be on the final roster. Looks like Brad Van Pelt, 2nd year QB from CSU has the #2 QB spot nailed down.

From what I understand, he is excellent at running the scout offense during practices, and Shanahan really likes him due to his intelligence.

He probably doesn't have the physical tools to be an NFL quarterback, but he's making $280k/year running the scout team four days per week and holding a clipboard on the sidelines...He and his wife bought a big house here last year, so he seems to be pretty secure in his job, even though he's not really playing. He could be the next Gary Kubiak.

I ran into Jake Plummer at a bar last winter right after the season ended. I walked up to him and said, "Jake Plummer! Nice to meet you. So you know Matt Mauck, huh? He's the BEST."

Plummer looked puzzled at first (we were both pretty drunk) then he laughed and said, "ah. LSU fan, right?"

Don't buy that at all. He may not be the stereotypical 21st century starting QB, but he's always reminded me of Jake Delhomme, and he, although not a flashy QB, took his team to the Super Bowl in his first year as a starter (and almost won, mind you).

I'm not saying he'll ever be an NFL starter, but I don't think it will be b/c of his lack of physical tools.

He never got the credit he deserved in college, and I don't guess that will ever change.

    You go Mauck.

Here's a clip from this mornings Denver Post on the Broncos QB situation and an interesting clip on Rohan:

Kanell was replaced by Brad- lee Van Pelt as Plummer's top backup Aug. 3. Van Pelt likely will remain there. The team has to decide whether it keeps Matt Mauck, who has been working as the No. 3 quarterback, or go with only two quarterbacks on the active roster as it did last year with Plummer and Kanell.

In an unrelated inquiry, a league source said New England recently contacted the Broncos about reserve quarterback Rohan Davey, whom the Pats are shopping. The Broncos don't have any interest in him for now.
