Did anybody see this segment during the Half-Time show of the Vtech vs BC game?

Mark Maye had Les Miles as being On the Mark with the last play call of the Auburn game. He is the only talking head I've heard give credit to the call.

He was talking about Les Miles' good fortune. He was bashing Miles for that call after the actual game.

Those criticizing Miles for the last play didn't watch it closely to see what really happened. They're assuming Miles called the pass play with an all or nothing attitude. We clearly had enough time to go for a pass and then attempt a FG had the pass fallen incomplete. For some reason or another, 3 seconds ran off the clock after Byrd caught the ball, leaving 1 second on the clock and thus making Miles look like someone who needs his meds. You would think an "analyst" would watch plays more intently before making such comments about Miles, but what do I know?

This is all getting old. Did anyone not notice that about 3 seconds ran off the clock once the TD was caught. Had the ball fallen incomplete, we would have had a couple of seconds to attempt the field goal.

yep... takes a lot longer to call a TD than to call an incomplete... I have no problem with the play call just how long it took the offense to get to the line to set it up... but no matters cuz we got the W

I agree. Most people criticizing the call seem to not have watched a replay to see the actual time. Some seem like they forgot that we still had a time out left. I have no problem with the call. The coverage was pretty good and the pass thrown in the perfect spot. That is the only concern I had. Wether or not I would have thrown into that tight a coverage.
The call itself, with the time remaining and the timeout left was right on the money. The other possibility that is not discussed at all is the defensive pass interference. If that gets called it makes the field goal a chip shot for the win.

    Great call Les! :thumb:

We had good ole fashion home clocking on our side. You have to believe that clock was stopping at 1 second regardless of the outcome of that play.

Did anyone notice that Matt Flynn ran off 10 long seconds looking over the defense between breaking the huddle and snapping the ball?

I've been trying to say this all week to everyone I work with, that I agreed with the call 100% and there was nothing wrong with the timing, but they all thought CLM and me were crazy.
