http://www.2theadvocate.com/stories/122303/lsu_lsufoot001.shtml Great article on Randall ... The kid has many detractors, but IMO, he could do it ... if called upon. His stats this year look great too.
Lets hope we don't have to find out in the Sugar Bowl. If Randall had been the starter this year no doubt that he would have developed into a better QB than he was last year. He did show flashes of greatness at times last year but the big problem was inconsistency. During the first half of the Cotton Bowl the talking heads were comparing him to Joe Montana but he fell apart in the second half. There are a lot of D1A teams that he could be starting for but he hasn't as of yet displayed the intangible qualities of making his teamates better because of his presence that Mauck and Davey had.
I think Randall could do it...With an established running game, great WR's, and a bad ass defense.... I wouldn't want to put him in, but I am not as nervous as I was about this happening earlier on in this season.
ohhhhhhhhhh...don't get me started again on Randall! I want to see him play in New Orleans when the score is 49-7 in LSU's favor. Unfortunately, that is the only time this year I want to see him play.
I appreciate Randall being mature about this....................... but............ NO, I would not like to see Randall play unless the game is already decided.I agree with you Mesquite.
Possibly his biggest drawback is, to me, his throwing of the ball up for grabs when he gets pressured. I have seen him do this every single game this year that he has played. Last year, when he played well, he was never pressured considerably. He seems to be real nervous back there in the pocket. He also has fumbling problems as well. If Matt Mauck doesn't get hurt against Fla, I could see us winning the SEC Championship last year and possibly contending for the Fiesta Bowl with such an early loss and tough non-conference schedule. Marcus Randall's inconsistent play (how many turnovers vs Auburn?) is what caused us to lose three of five games. That said, I could have easily seen us at 7-6 because we should have lost the UK game.
you all know that TigerEducated is going to have a totally different take on this Randall situation then we do, right?
Mauck makes a good point. Many teams do not have a backup QB with the kind of game experience Randall has. If Mauck goes down, Randall may go in cold . . . but he won't go in green.
