In his mailbag this week he mentions LSU "graduating" to the next level of programs. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/stewart_mandel/08/06/cfb.mailbag/2.html
LSU is THE king of college football. Anyone who challenges that, I'll see their challenge and raise them :crystal::crystal:
i love this time of year and range of all these articles. underachievers in one, kings in another. :hihi:
How on earth can this guy name Florida as one of the "kings"? Before the 90's, they weren't but a middle of the pack SEC team. In the big picture, we have more history than they do.
Here is his current list of Kings: Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, LSU, Texas and USC.
I remember reading that column (referenced in his answer) from around this time last year. And what a year is was...
Then, Miami doesn't belong there, either, especially with them falling off the map recently. Whereas, Florida is very much back.
Miami has 5 national championships to Florida's 2. Florida hadn't won a NC or a conference championship till the 90's. Miami won it's first NC in the early 80's. In the all-time ranking index on college football data warehouse.com, Miami comes in at 14 and Florida is down at 20. Florida doesn't stack up to Miami.
