First of all, Congradulations to the Tigers on a tremendously hard fought victory! I think it lived up to all of the pre-game pressure and hype. What a Great Game!!!
The Tiger Defense and Ole Miss Offense showed up as billed, while going almost unnoticed, the outcome of the game (the score & stats) were primarily decided by the LSU Offense and Ole Miss Defense!
This brings me to my only critical remark of the whole game (and whole season, as well as seasons to come), can anyone answer the question of why aren't we making other teams respect the speed of our recieving corps? We have it in the recievers (with players such as Green, Henderson, Clayton, and others), as well as in the stable of running backs. Teams such as Miami, Fla. State and Florida have made a living out of throwing the long ball early, and consistantly. If we would do this too, even when we don't complete anything, we put fear in, as well as soften up their defense which allows us to run the offense we really want to. The only answer I can come up with is our own coaches know that our offensive line is really over-rated? Can anyone explain differently?:tigerhead :tigerhead :tigerhead

I think LSU's gameplan is more suited to ball control. Short high percentage passes into playmaker hands, who can break it for a long one. Also, one of Mauck's criticisms is that he doesn't throw the deep ball well. I just think LSU should throw deep a couple of times just to keep the defense honest.

    Spread the wealth

First and foremost its great to be a Tiger! Couple of points to get other Tiger fans feedback: Offense:

1.) Throw bench/flat pass routes to our running backs i.e. Justin Vincent in a three receiver set which would force our opponets LB's to play/run in open field vs. stationary; or worse rushing the passer.

2.) Three receiver set where is our passing game to the TE-Eric Edwards? This guy is a big target with great hands. If we flood the outside or middle third of the field with two WR's running deep routes and throw underneath to Edwards its automatic.

3.) 4-5 receiver sets- first use Vincent as the fourth and/or fifth receiver where he can work outside or middle third of the field forcing LB's to play him in open field. Throw him short high percentage routes or Skyler Green in same fashion. The other receivers should be running deep routes stretching the defense. Spurrier did this for a living vs. SEC teams- we have the tools to exploit teams as well. JIMBO, JIMBO???

4.) Just for fun on a 5 receiver set send Bennie deep- ok so what if he cant catch - he wears a jersey and someone will have to account for him. With his speed if he is wide open Mauck can throw him a punt. Seriously, let him take someone deep and throw underneath.

Overall, we could control teams by stretching them with our speed and throwing underneath. Thoughts?
