It seems people are taking this side of things... If he stays, people are upset that he took this long.. If he goes, people are upset that he, well, left! There is not a damn good reason to be upset with the man, in either case! Think about it: Leaves: He came here expecting to go to the NFL one day. Look what it took to take him away from us. Pretty much THE perfect opportunity for him to reach his dream of the NFL: complete control, ****loads of money, warm climate, etc. He loves it here, and he brought us up from very little... Stays: He stays for one thing. Should he stay (which I believe he will), he is passing up probably his LAST opportunity to go the NFL with the details in a contract that he wants. There are a limited number of teams that he would go to because of climate. If he stays it just shows us how much he loves it here. I think that if he stays, he will have proven that he is truly a Tiger...
AMEN!!! Good to see Tiger Band still produces people that think clearly. I am Happy Nick Saban came to LSU and showed us how it's supposed to be done. That won't change whether he leaves tomorrow or in 20 years. GEAUX TIGERS
Not a chance. The NFL offers have gotten better each year for Nick. There is no reason to think there won't be offers just as good in his future. The NFL will always be there for Nick.
NFL = Nick's Football League He could go anytime he wants to... why do it now? I hope he stays, but best of luck to him if he decides otherwise.
Maybe. Coaches have their "15 minutes of fame" in the sense that they are hot commodities, but only for a little while. Remember Gary Kubiak a few years ago? Everybody wanted him, he was the hot property. He turned down several lucrative offers in the hope that he'd land the Houston NFL job. He didn't get it and he faded into obscurity. I really don't think Saban's lustre will fade for a couple of years but if he REALLY wants to coach in the Not For Long league, his time is now.
That's something I don't understand. Why are NFL teams so rabid for Saban? Yeah, he's good, but there are plenty of good coaches. Why does the NFL not pursue Bob Stoops so aggresively? Or Urban Meyer? Or Pete Carroll? Or Bobby Bowden?
What I mean by the perfect opportunity for HIM... As in a southern team and complete control along with tons of money. A bunch of the southern teams will not offer him comlpete control.
Why are the Dolphins taking so long? They couldn't find a black coach to interview last Tuesday or Wednesday. Why do they have to drag this out? This is like being in the hospital waiting on someone who is in critical condition. "The waiting is the hardest part." -Tom Petty
As mentioned before, since his daughter is starting high school some folks figure we just bought 4 more years.
