i've seen many places talking about luke sanders as if he has under achieved and i'd like to know how you guys feel about it. from what i've seen, dandydon's description matches it. luke's basically being the qb for the defense, he changes the plays, he adjusts the line, etc. this is a leadership role and he's filling it fine. on top of that, his job is pretty much to constantly spy. he is the one that sits back and watch the play develop making sure nobody gets past his line rather than attacking the ball. kinda like a sweeper in soccer or a close up strong safety. so is he failing in his job or is he just a bust? i'm gonna go ahead and say that like beckwith in the arizone game, auburn will be luke's big game. it will be the first time rbs will really be coming through the line and we'll be able to see how strong he is for the first time.
doesnt seem to have a nose for the ball so i guess its lack of instincts thus far. great size, speed etc we found doesnt make a great linebacker. cam vaughn was proof of that. beckwith seems to be that guy.
I think he's just in the backfield with Beckwith and Highsmith who may be ALL-SEC candidates the way they are playing in the first two games.
With Big B and Ali in the background, leaving them to their thing and his "close-up strong safety" role (good comparison) just feels like a formula for success. Kinda like a Jack Hunt.
yeah that's what i'm saying. before the season everyone was talking about who would step up as a leader, etc. well we got one more leader on d and that's sanders. once again, i say he has a big game against auburn with them trying to run up the middle as often as they do.
He acts as more of a QB for the defense at this time. Should he ever be called on to take a different role, I feel he would be up to it. Luke is a very self-less kid who is very cerebral in his approach to the game. Remember people were saying the same thing about Bradie James until Trev Faulk left and James had to take on a new role.
AU will run right and up the middle ALL GAME LONG. Sanders has never lived up to his hype. This is a large AU line, inexperience at tackle position only, with SENIOR EXPERIENCE IN THE INNER LINE (C, LG, RG). Auburn will target Sanders ALL GAME LONG ... frankly, he's the weak link in the chain of LSU's defense ... there always is one. THE AUBURN GAME PLAN: 1. POUND THE MIDDLE ALL GAME LONG 2. RUN PLAY ACTION OFF THE FAKE (PRIMARY TARGET ... 1 DECENT WR) 3. RUN THE RIGHT SIDE EVERY THIRD RUN OR SO, WITH AN OCCASIONAL VENTURE OVER THE LEFT SIDE TO KEEP LSU HONEST. 4. IF THE ABOVE DOESN'T WORK, SHOTGUN FORMATION HOPE N' A PRAYER CRAP (PASS EVERY DOWN & RUN FROM THE SHOTGUN) ... This is when we REALLY KNOW WE GOT 'EM BY THE BALLS. I HOPE THEY SHOW UP ON THE FIRST PLAY USING THE SHOTGUN (Cuz they know their tackles can't protect their 6-2 little Cox --- ukker)
rammah, i've heard a lot about you buddy. glad to see you not only hate luke sanders, but you have zero faith in our dline as well. :thumb:
Kenny Irons had 21 carries for 69 yards against Moo Moo State. I pray to god our D line is better than theirs and Luke Sanders could start for Miss. State. Cox will have to beat us in the air. Zenon may get 2 picks for touchdows they will have to throw so much.
