Did y'all read in Skip's "Chat" that starting this football season audio won't be free anymore from lsusports.net? Something like $5/mo for audio-only and $10/mo for audio and video. What do you think? I only listen to the football audio for games that I can't watch (usually only 3-4/year since I have DirectTV), but I listen a lot to women's bball games. I wonder if you'll have to sign up for a whole year or only the months where you expect to use it?
well... that takes care of the bandwidth problems.. seems that more and more LSU is charging for things that used to be free or adding extra fees to everything.. is that part of being a top program?
i dont like it. i think its a great conduit for kids around the country that are interested in LSU to tune in to our game atmosphere when they wish and a good recruiting tool. no kid is gonna pay to listen. i wish they'd avoid this fee.
This looks alot like being penny-wise and pound foolish....how much revenue do you think LSU could reasonably expect from this source? :geauxtige btw...there's always WWL...except that it comes and goes#@%^$^#(#!!!
What kind of quality is this thing expected to have? I am probably moving to where there will be no LSU games on television, so this may be my only choice...
Don't you think they give recruits DVDs of games and the atmosphere? I highly doubt a star athlete is going to be sitting at home on a Saturday night, glued to a computer with a high speed connection just to hear the crowd roar. We're not talking big bucks here, and if the quality is improved, I'll consider getting it. Part of the reason of a fee is to scale back the volume of people tying it up (much like a free concert or fair or anything that's swiftly overrun by people that can only afford something that's free...you know the types.)
im aware of that but it cuts free access to what was the rest of the world. some ties will be lost and thats never a good thing. any publicity is good publicity so to speak. Id like LSU to become THE school kids want to attend like the Miami and FSU of the 80's. this starts with young kids who definitely are a tad more computer savvy than us old folks.
Move the campus to a place like Miami or actively endorse criminal behavior. Doesn't really matter what's on-line if we could do that!
Well working out of state I would like them to get rid of this charge because when I have time I listen the games while I am around a computer. However my time is not always there and not interesting in paying this fee on a maybe.
