We are #6. This is good news for us. We haven't traditionally been in the top 10 ever. Notice we're ahead of USC! We are also the most popular SEC team nationally according to this Poll.

    2004 Rank
    1. Notre Dame
    2. Ohio State
    3. Michigan
    4. Texas
    5. Penn State
    6. LSU
    7. USC
    8. Wisconsin
    9. Tennessee
    10. Maryland

These are some of the results of an online survey conducted by Harris Interactive between October 20 and 25, 2004 among a nationwide cross section of 2,114 U.S. adults of whom 789 say they follow college football. While interest in college football was on the rise in the late 1990s, this year it holds steady as 35 percent of U.S. adults report following college football - virtually the same as the last two years. Its popularity is highest among men and southerners.

    I have a problem with #8 and #10.

    I can't believe OU isn't in there.

There is some site that ranks school popularity on the amount of apparel that people buy across the country. I don't know what the link is, but it would be a better survey than that one. I would guess.

In that survey that I was referring to in my post, Texas was #1 or near there.

We do get a lot of Texas apparel around LSU's campus. Most of those kids are from Texas and owned that stuff before they made their mind up about what college to go to. Just like a Louisiana kid growing up with LSU gear and then going to an out of state college.
When I wore my LSU gear around Texas's campus - I didn't get any wierd looks or anything. The two schools have more in common than some of us like to admit.

That survey Mr. Peabody is talking about reflected pretty well on LSU as well. We were top 5 - I don't remember exactly where. Georgia was also top 5, and I believe Texas was number 2 behind some basketball school, duke maybe? I can't remember.
