I was just looking at when the D has been scored against this season. We have only allowed 16 points to be scored against us in the first half--13 by Florida and 3 by UGA. Our D has played great, my only dissapointment is that we have not held on to a shut out yet. I was really hoping for the shut out Saturday night but we were also close to shuttin out MSU, WIU, ULM, and Arizona. I am saying close because those teams did not score til the fourth. USC scored in the 3rd. I would love it if the D could shut one team out before the season is over. However, I will take the win anyway it comes. Geaux Tiger
LSU has given up two first half touchdowns all year, period. LSU has not allowed a first half touchdown to three of it's four SEC opponents, and has given up a total of six scores to five SEC opponents. Strong. Very strong.
You can blame AU for scoring on our defense on me......while having a blast in Tiger Stadium on Saturday Nite, watching our LSU Tigers control the great AU running game....... I was telling my friend during the second half that this could be a SHUT OUT of the great AU Tigers (great....according to Trev Albert haha!!!) and my buddy told me that I just put the GRIS GRIS on us......DAMN....so it's my fault for that AU score.....:-(
Yeah, I can't wait to see what Trev Alberts has to say now...I wonder who he thinks is the best team in the SEC now!!!!! with UGA struggling the past 2 weeks against Vandy and UAB, it is stupid to say that they are the best. And on top of that WE beat them
He's usually on a moderated chat on ESPN.com around a half an hour from now each Monday, if I'm not mistaken.
not to bash the second team defense or anything because i know they play their heart out and love playing for the tigers, but the reason we havent held on to a shutout this year is because St. Nick always pulls the stars and puts in the second team in the 4th quarter. The small drop off in talent is just enough to allow that late 4th quarter touchdown. And dont take this as me disagreeing with Saban....Im all for putting team 2 in. But the fact is that if our first team played the entire game we would probably have 3-4 shutouts.
Yeah, I don't think Saban cares all that much about getting shutouts. There really is no reason at all to risk injury just for the sake of a 42-0 win over a 42-7 win or something like that.
Not to mention that our backups are getting valuable playing time. Here is an excerpt from Trev Alberts chat today:
