1. With the problems that Landry and Shepard are in, where do we go next?

    Randle and...

Miles said on his Wednesday call in show that Fobbs isn't ready. Also said that Williams isn't ready. So...who is it? I've heard little about Boone's development. Peterson is a definite weapon, but a TE and not necessarily fit for a 4-wide set. I guess we are down to....

Randle, Beckham, Boone, and Wright. A LOT of inexperience. Guess we will be running the ball 40-50 times against Oregon, but I guess that comes as no surprise.
  2. Wright is definitely #2.

Shepard may not be much of a loss, with Wright a potential HUGE upgrade.

Then Boone and Beckham I supposed.
  3. Is Shepard not really a loss? I thought he was #1 on the depth chart? I know we don't rely on our passing game, but I hope we still have an adequate threat with Randle.

It's time for Randle to really step up and be a game breaker (aka. Julio Jones, AJ Green). Any chance he has that type of break out season?
  4. Yeah I think we'll be fine at the receiver position. Shep's got great feet, but he's got hands of stone. All of his high school highlights where he scored were quarterback keepers. That's not as big of a loss as people may think.
  5. We don't know how to get him into our offense. I don't think anything was changing in that front this season. So I take it as a minor loss.

In fact, Wright will see much more PT this season with Shepard out, and LSU fans will come to realize this is a good thing.

  6. kRags has plays to get all involved. D-Pete will be in tight, then at times flexed out. The formations used will see the matchups on him. As for the others, all will be used in a mixture. OBJ looks to be one that will see lots of playing time. In the Spring game, we saw Boone, Wright, Fobbs and Armand Williams. Gore could be one that will handle some of Sheps slack.

After watching Ware, I see he has as much strength, style, moves and field vission as any returning back in the SEC. He just needs the chance. Talking with someone that had a chance to keep an eye on him at the US Army Bowl, all he would say is the kid was the best player out there regardless of position.

I like the OL this year, oh yea, people are talking about bumps and bruises. We still have 8 days. This is the most depth we've had on the OL in years. We have 8 players return that have started games and of that, 9 that have played in games.
  7. From a sheer odds standpoint, teams that would rush 40-50 times are usually always in the lead (unless you're GT, Army or Navy).

Having said that, I don't think that would nec. be a bad gameplan. Auburn seemed to have great success running on Oregon.

Besides, I know "new seasons bring new optimism", but tell me, based on our passing attack from the past 2 seasons, what good does 4-WR sets do if you're not able to connect with the pass???

I'd honestly go more 2 TE sets and pound away with Ware to set up PA pass before going all "gung ho!" with 4 and 5 WR sets composed of 2-3 players that have zero game experience.

  8. I hope your right. I would much rather be able to effectively use the talent we have, rather than waste talent as in the past few years (i.e. RS, TT), confuse our own O, and kill drives under Crowton. I'm hoping we're going to see some common sense and a heavy influence from Krag even if he is only the QB coach.

  9. If we have a QB that can deliver him the football at the right time, Hell ya he can!
  10. Oregon's tallest DB is 6-1. He does happen to have a near 40" vertical.
Randle is 6-4, not sure of his vertical, but he is very long.
I would expect that we would attempt to exploit the height difference on the edge, and attempt to get a mismatch against one of their smaller corners (sub 6-0).
Let RR go up and get it.

FWIW, I would go vintage Spurrier on them, play-action to Ware, and throw it up for RR on the first play. Get them on their heels, and then pound them while they don't know what happened.
