For a losing team, Alabama sure is on tv a lot this year.... 3-6 record..... I guess everyone is curious to see how Bama will respond after their coaching soap opera in the off season, or is it because of Mike Shula? or both? I like Mike Shula and hope he has some success but not against us.
The networks want the teams that will bring the highest ratings and the games that they expect to hold the viewers the longest. Guess they think that bama has the tradition, history, fans, and team to do these things? I didn't realize they were on a lot, but I don't live in SEC territory. I think they've been on TV once this year in the Houston market, as I recall, and that was against Oklahoma. Or, have they been on one of the ESPNs, and I just missed it? :geaux:
They were on ESPN the first 3 games of season, then they were on cbs for the Arkansas and UT game. Anyone let me know if theirs more. Of course on ESPN against us coming up.
Of Alabama's 9 games so far thie season, 7 of them have been on TV. I only know this because it was a trivia question on the radio the other day (the question was for both UA and AU). The only two games that did not get televised were the NIU and USM games. Alabama does bring viewers, though. They were a 10-3 team last year. Also, considered who they have played, and the manner in which the games were played. They played #1 Oklahoma in the tightest game OU has been in all season, and were only a play or two from winning it for the second straight year. Then Kentucky was the JP game, no biggie. Then they had then #14 Arkansas and #12 UGA in consecutive weeks. Those games had major national and SEC implications. The next weeks UA/USM game is always noteworthy around here (a little surprised USF was televised and not USM). Followed by SEC unbeaten Ole Miss the next week. Then they take UT to 5 OTs. Alabama may be 3-6, but they have made some pretty exciting football games this year. And Heaven help you if you try to change a TV in a bar away from any Alabama game around here.
