If LSU wins against Arkansas and Ohio State and Michigan are chosen for the NC game does LSU actually have a shot at playing USC? This would be insane and I hear would be LSU's first time ever in the ROSE. What are your thoughts?

I said after the Fla. loss that if we ended up in a bowl against USC and take 'em down like -I know we will- that would make my season. Just so we don't play ND!

Could happen but just a little while ago on ESPN they said that while OSU/Michigan would be a big draw for the title the folks at the BCS are really hoping for an OSU/USC showdown. If that doesn't materialize then ND would be there next choice. So it really sounds like the AP/Coaches/BCS want to see OSU/USC or ND game as the big show.

They did say however that if this does happen with a 1 win USC or ND or Michigan getting into the title game before a 1 win Florida (should Florida win out), the fallout from the SEC could be swift and harsh. They said that secretly the SEC is still fuming about being shut out with Auburn a few years ago and some of the other recent happenings regarding the SEC and its teams at title and bowl games.

While the SEC does carry a lot of clout in College football the sad thing is its all still driven by the media and the BCS.

Question was asked if the SEC gets snubbed again could they push and force a playoff in college football ????

This could get quite interesting before its all done.

The possibility of the chance of this happenning has my New Years Eve plans on hold.

LSU makes the Rose Bowl i will skip down from the San Fran area and i will be there.

No plans are made until i see LSU is not in the Rose Bowl.

That would make my year!!! LSU= MICH OR USC

    Geaux Tigers lets win Baby.

I think it's vitally important that Notre Dame doesn't beat USC in a classic for the ages (ala last year's game).

If that happens, then OSU/Michigan get to play for it all, and the Rose could very well pit USC vs. Notre Dame in a rematch. Don't know why you would want to do that, but it's a distinct possibility.

I am just hoping it's a blowout, either way, preferably USC.

I would love to play USC in the Rose and do to them what we did to the U last year in the Peach. That would be as close to winning a NC as you could get w/out winning it.

I put in for 3 bowl games.
    1-Cotton because it's close by
2-Sugar because it's in New Orleans
3-Rose because it's in L.A. Always wanted to see an LSU game there.
I have friends nearby that I can hopefully stay with for free. :)

We certainly have a shot, but if there is rematch between Mich and OSU it is more likely that the SEC will only get one team in the BCS. We would have better odds at making the BCS if USC plays in the NCG. I think the only way we could make it with USC is if ND beats USC and Florida beats FSU and Ark. The reasoning follows:

The 6 BCS conference champs get bids.

If Mich makes the NCG, they will be #7

If Boise beats Nevada they will be #8.

If ND is in the top 8, they get an automatic. If they are in the top 14 they will be eligible to be chosen. They're certain to remain in the top 14 and if they do it's highly probable they will be chosen. Therefore assume they will be #9.

That leaves one spot left. If any of the BCS conferences have a team ranked #3 or #4 and they are not the conference champion, the highest ranked one will automaticly qualify. The problem is the BE. Assuming Louisville and W. Virginia win out, Louisville will win the conference, but W. Virginia has an excellent chance of being ranked #4. If they make it, there is no room for a 2nd SEC team (my assumption is even a 12th ranked ND--and I doubt they would fall that far--would be chosen over a higher ranked 2nd SEC team).

    W. Virginia is currently ranked 7th. Considering that they will be playing Rutgers and Pitt, I think that it is unlikely they will drop as long as they win. They only need to pass 3 teams to get to 4.

For Mich to get the rematch, USC most certainly has to lose. Currently, they are very close in the BCS. After beating both ND and UCLA it's hard to imagine that enough voters would change their mind for Mich to hold them off. It's possible, but unlikely imo. If my assumption about ND being chosen regardless of whether they win or lose to USC is correct, it's necessary for ND to beat USC as they would stay ranked ahead of W. Virginia, but USC would probably drop below them. If USC were to beat ND and lose to UCLA both USC and ND would drop below W. Virginia.

Once we beat Ark, they will drop below W. Virginia. That is 3 if USC beats ND and loses to UCLA, but only 2 if ND beats USC.

After this the key will be the SEC CG. If Ark wins, then Fl will be the 3rd team to drop below and we are probably screwed.

What makes it better for USC to play in the NCG? Well, Mich would most certainly be ranked 3rd, so regardless of how high W. Virginia rises, Mich will be the team with the automatic bid as only one team, the highest ranked, can claim it. After this, I just believe that a second SEC team, either LSU or Fl would be preferred over W. Virginia...but I'm biased.
