Yes, I just got a media release from LSU stating the Tigers and Horned Frogs would renew their old gridiron rivalry in 2013 & 2014. Well, I'm glad to know they are working on things for the future. The final line in the release was this: LSU is currently finalizing its 2006 football schedule which will be announced soon. Bama, Bama...Bama won't you bite my ass!
That should be good for recruiting texas players and is not too bad of an out of conference opponent.
Anytime LSU faces a Texas team, that's a good thing. I've been all for an annual Tx A&M game at Reliant Stadium, with both schools splitting profits. They could do a "Sabine River Showdown" kind of promotion, similar to the UT-OU "Red River Shootout" promotion. It'll never happen because it'd be way, way too cool and too many people would love it. BTW, is LSU ever, ever, ever, ever, ever finalize dates for the home and home series with Oklahoma? I mean, they only reached an agreement on this two years ago and counting...
I totally agree about playing TCU or any big Texas team. It opens up a window for recruiting in large metroplex areas like Houston and Dallas. The more exposure LSU gets the better. I've been all for renewing the A&M series. Having them as a permanent opponent like a 10-year deal we've got with Tulane would be fantastic. I want it for selfish reasons mostly because I hate the Faggies more than any school on the planet. If I remember right the Va Tech game is suppose to be in 2007. I wonder if they'll work something out with Arizona State for 2007 or 2008. The OU series was 2008 and 2009 if I remember right. Would love to see these quality teams in Tiger Stadium.
Agree it will help LSU as well as TCU. The guys over here are VERY excited about this kind of game because Texas and A&M are about the only teams in Texas that won't schedule TCU and they ALWAYS have BS excuses why. DFW LSU Alum Assoc has BEGGED Bertman to MAKE Laval come to Ft Worth to play baseball and he won't do it. TCU offered 3 visits to LSU for 2 visits to Ft Worth to play in a brand new facility and they won't make it happen. TCU HC, Jim Schlossnagle was at Tulane for 8 or so years and knows all at LSU very well but has been unable to get LSU to Ft Worth. New TCU AD, Danny Morrison has been very aggressive about upgrading schedules since he got here.LSU!
Well I'll be the first to complain. I really wish LSU could have atleast gotten a 2 for 1 deal with this. TCU plays at a dump and cannot even sell it out. If we are playing them I hope it is at the Cowboys new stadium in Arlington and not at Amon Carter like it is planned for now.
Who is our toughest non-conference opponent next season? I remember a few years back we opened (in 2002, right?) with a loss to VT when Suggs rushed all over us.
LOL...Talk about a house divided!! She's already told me she wouldn't even ride in the same car as me to/from the game, let alone sit with us "little LSU fans", as she likes to say. That's okay: it must be difficult being a fan of a school whose best athletic team these days is...women's soccer. Aww...poor Aggies!
Honestly, I think that's exactly what will happen. Univ. of Houston plays "big, quality" opponents in Reliant these days, such as "the U"...err, on second thought, not a good example to give of a "big, quality" opponent, I guess. (LSU! 40-3)
