Herbie said it himself USC hasn't played anybody good so how come LSU didn't jump them in the poles this week? After thoroughly dominating no. 9 VTech, and with USC being idle why LSU didn't become no.1?(It's not LSU fault USC was idle this week, and even if they were are you saying a win over Nebraska should keep them at no. 1???) so far we are the only team that was in the top 5 to beat a team in the top 10, and USC doesn't play any team in the top 10 til later in the season (if Cal is still up there). Then we have to possibly play another team in the top 5 twice (Florida). Gameday was talking about signature wins well if you say that Nebraska is going to be USC's signature win, and that will be why USC should stay number one, thats just a big freaking joke. Oh yea as for Oklahoma, Miami is garbage and unranked enough said.
i think a lot of voters are wondering about vt. even though lsu opened up the play book more last night you can't deny that miss. st. played harder than vt., forget the play calling just watch the line of scrimmage. with the way this year is starting, its hard to tell whats going to happen week to week. last week cal looked great against tenn, this week its played close to col. st. and tenn. played pretty good against so.miss....i could go on and on but the ways this season is starting i think its gonna be two or three more weeks before we get a good idea of where a lot of the top 25 teams are standing. i was not impressed with nebraska and think usc will roll over them and the media will make a big deal of it but in a few weeks after we play south carolina lsu will have played a good sec team and we'll see where vt stands so we know how good a team we beat last night.
LSU didn't jump USC because the media loves USC and USC hasn't lost USC hasn't played a decent team because they don't have a decent team on their schedule signature wins don't mean crap and jim rome doesn't post here
LSU didn't jump USC because USC didn't play this weekend and it's really not fair to lose the number 1 spot if you don't play that weekend. Get over it, people. Who the hell cares what our ranking is right now. All it does is put more pressure on the team to keep that ranking. All that matters is where we are at the end of the season.
It could be because that's they're opinion, and by most accounts, USC is loaded at all positions. That's just a guess though.
No decent team on the schedule? That's a stretch. As it stands now and knowing that things could change (including in the Pac's favor) USC will be playing 4 top 20 teams. The Coach's poll changed up a bit but still not enough to put LSU in the #1 spot so you can't blame that on the media. There are 7 SEC Coaches on the voting Board and 3 more (Beamer, Toledo and Stockstill) who will/did get a first hand look at your Tigers. The Pac has 5 voting members (with 2 who will see USC-Callahan, Weiss). Maybe that explains how Auburn in a straight up loss ended up with more votes than USF. Either way, great win last night and LSU looked phenomenal. Congrats.
