    This Stinks Totally

I have already emailed everyone in the AD to voice my displeasure with scheduling another D-1111111111 team. The bad press, the stealing from our 92,000 fans, the loss of respect from people around the country.

    Total BS IMO. :po:

If true, not the most attractive opponent. That being said, though, how much choice is there at this late point in time?

Last year we picked up Oregon St later than this, OU picked up Houston later than this and just last week USC picked up Fresno St. Surely there is a decent D-1 team out there we can pay to play.

The AD dept. is stealing from it's fan with crap teams coming in to play. It is a shame to have to pay big bucks to watch these games. I guess it could be considered a donation, without the deduction from your taxes.

Exactly how long have we had this date open? Hasn't it been almost a year? Surely they could have found SOMEONE from I-A to fill the void. Heck, scheduling ULL would be better than Appalachian State....

I'm disappointed too, Cajdav, but I have to think there were no 1-A options out there. Frankly, I'd prefer an open date to playing a 1-AA team that late in the season, but, Skip's job is to see that the bills are paid.

You're right, Cajdav.... last fall Iowa was told by Missouri that they were cancelling our series to play Arkansas State instead. According to our AD, we "searched and searched" for a quality opponent and had to settle for Northern Iowa of Div. II fame.

And now we see all these "openings". What's going on?
It's hard to believe in the history of Iowa football, we have only played four SEC teams: Tenn (1-1), Florida (1-1), Arkansas (1-0) and LSU (1-0). Four SEC schools since Woodrow Wilson, that's amazing.

I understand the logic of playing a patsy here and there, but we're now raising ticket prices to fund our stadium's expansion and new suites (everybody's waiting to see what an Iowa Fat Cat actually looks like)..... and for what... to watch us pummel Northern Iowa.

If this is true it's ridiculous that LSU is scheduling a 1-AA opponent. Heck, if they had to schedule a 1-AA team than why not schedule McNeese or Northwestern State and at least keep that money in state.
This is total BS...Radakovich and Skip have had plenty enough time to find a decent 1-A team to schedule. I've been hoping that if the ADs are dead set on playing some patsie then try like hell to play the likes of Rice or SMU because at least the matchup would garner publicity in the Houston and Dallas metro areas, which are fertile recruiting grounds. Playing App. State does absolutely nothing for this program but hurt it IMO. In order to compete for the NC the Tigers will need to move up considerably from the preseason rankings and playing 1-AA teams won't help at all. It's bad enough playing cupcake teams, but playing 1-AA teams does absolutely nothing for this program and it really sucks for the fans who are getting fleeced. Like I said before, if the AD is set in stone for playing a lesser opponent then why not try to schedule a terrible team from a BCS conference like a Duke or Baylor. This kind of crap from the AD really pisses me off.

That really blows playing a 1-AA team. I'd like to think Skip did everything possible to avoid this, but it still sucks!

Hope this doesn't come back to bite us in a$$ in the BCS....
