The more I think about this, the more I think it is wrong. All of our away games were against top 8 teams or better (most were top 5 in the country at the time we played them).

I didn't want to create any waves but since you brought it up......any SOS that shows Michigan with the #2 overall carries no weight in my book. :thumb:

Yeah I agree, kind of like when the BCS had the Pac 10 rated as the toughest conference.

the weakness of all sos rankings in my book is that they assume a linear relationship in the rankings. for a top 10 program like lsu, playing #103 ULL is just like playing #72 New Mx St. if lsu would not schedule such bad rentawins then the sos would skyrocket without any real increase in chance at losing. without looking at it, id bet thats how Mich is #2

I'm pretty sure it's based on the overall winning percentage of the teams you played at season's end. So the fact that one or two of them may have been ranked high at the start of the season or when you played them means little.

I don't like that they use winning percentage. 6-6 UL-L gets the same weight as 6-6 Bama. That's giving Bama a littel too much credit.:hihi:

The entire difference in SOS is one game on the schedule. You put Central Michigan on our schedule and either Tulane or Fresno State on theirs, and we pretty much swap positions. I think Fresno or Tulane would have given Central Michigan a pretty good battle head to head. So there you go. The subtleties in life make such a big difference.

I think Bama might beat 'em... with the final score being the same as their record.
