3 out of 4 picked LSU

Woodie Page picked Bama, the rest of them embarssed him by actually using logic in thier predictions of an LSU win.

Saw that. Hope we don't let the show down, or else Woody will be wearing the hat on Monday.

Out of all of those on Around the Horn, Woody is the only one who has an understanding of SEC football. He may be a UT grad...but he does have a grasp of what games like this can be like.

The same can't be said for the others on that set...

Woody is the biggest idiot to ever talk sports, that includes Ramah, and not just because of his LSU/Bama prediction.

This is a true story about Woody Paige:

While at Tennessee, he was a "stringer' for the local newspaper. His job was to hang out at the jail at night and call the newspaper if any big crimes occurred that needed to be covered by a reporter. He wasn't dilligent about his job. One night he called from a bar to check in with the newspaper and advised that, as usual, there was nothing to report from the jail (where he was supposed to be). The night desk editor said he had better do a little better job of observation since the jail building was on fire and the building was surrounded by first responders.

the guy's entertaining... sometimes you guys take sports a little bit too seriously...I've seen him say some things that seemed outlandish that came true

    a) vermont vs syracuse upset in ncaa tournament
    b) penn state vs ohio state... picked psu when no one thought psu was for real
    c) at the all star break he said the indians would give the white sox a race for the division and NO ONE believed him... the white sox were up like 15 games.. sure enough it came down to the last two games...

the guy has a great knowledge of sports... I dont agree with him at all in this case... but the same way a lot of people hate stuart scott and lee corso... give it a rest, sports are FUN... and GAMES... a lot of us forget that some times

Actually Woody used to be my favorite ATH regualr. Then he moved to NY and started getting on all of the popular bandwagons (Colts when the Pats were clearly better, Vick, Vince Young). I still like him though. He stiill makes smart underdog picks and is not afraid to take a big risk (like today when he made that bet with reali that Cal would beat USC), plus he is the most entertaining guy there. Now my favorite is Micheal Smith followed by TC. I also like JA when he doesn't have his head too far up LA's rear end. I used to like Marriotti, then i moved out to Illinois and reallized what an whiner he was.

I wouldn't say he is an idiot, but he is very hard to listen to as he fumbles and bumbles thru his responses. 1st and 10 would be much better show if they replaced him. The Bayless guy at least is pleasant to listen to. I think they missed the boat when they should have used Steven A. Smith on that show, he is great with Skip, they go at it like cats and dogs. Stephen A. is overblown on his own Quite Frankly show, and will fade out in the near future due to overexposure.
