I was watching ESPN with my son this morining and there was a recap of the LSU-Ark game and a segment on Matt Mauck. Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit and a third ESPN analyst really gave LSU some love (Herbstreit still implied GA is the better team.) Anyway the third analyst has a vote in the AP. He said that with LSU's offense playing as well as it did against ARK, he may have to reconsider whether or not LSU should be Number 2 ! I think this big win, against a quality opponent comes at a great time. We will benefit from USC being off this week and may be able to make our move. Go Tigers !

I would be surprised if we move up even after winning next week. The AP and Coaches polls historically do not budge if teams keep winning. Just look for the gap to close considerably this week. We must be within 25 points to have a chance next week to overtake USC after next week's games. That would then mean only about 12-13 voters out of the 60+ voters would have to change their mind.

YOU PEOPLE MUST REALIZE THAT PRACTICALLY NONE OF THESE VOTERS HAVE LSU #2 RIGHT NOW. JUST DO THE MATH. THERE ARE 63 AND 65 VOTERS RESPECTIVELY IN THESE POLLS, AND THAT IS HOW MANY POINTS WE ARE BEHIND USC IN THESE POLLS. WE HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO. IT JUST WON'T HAPPEN.

I pity Oregon State. USC will try to score about 90 or so points against them. USC knows they must hold on to 2nd in the AP and coaches, or it is all over for them.

Looks like something I posted after the Ole Miss game. We have 3 AP voters now after our Ole Miss showing, and need to gain more than 35 voters in each poll to gain a majority @ #2 and offset odd votes for LSU as #4 & #5 ... they're out there. Big Ten writers have Michigan #2 & #3, but that's to be expected.

The results are in: ... LSU 55, Ark 24 ... 32 more votes needed.

We'll see Sunday when the new AP polls come out. Those BCS computer polls should be a helluva lot clearer as well. The biggest question is who will LSU face in Atlanta. If you're an LSU coach prepping for a team ... you gotta be looking at GA film.
