Duke's strength is inside. Their weakness is a short bench. They only go 7 or 8 deep. If LSU gets to run, they should be able to wear down the short handed Duke team. If LSU is forced to play a half court offense for much of the game, this one could be very tough to win. LSU 71, Duke 60 LSU's defense too much for Duke.
I believe LSU wins by 15+ over Duke. It will get extremely difficult from that point onward though. Especially if Baylor takes out North Carolina. Baylor is a hot team right now and very dangerous.
Well I don't think North Carolina or Baylor will be easy. So I don't think it matters who wins that game.
Then on the other side of the bracket, you have some pretty intimidating teams. One regional final is set with Rutgers and Tennessee, both of the teams taht beat LSU this year. Michigan State is up by double digits on Vandy right now and three time defending champion Uconn plays #1 ranked in the polls Stanford for right to play in the last regional finals pairing.
Looking forward to the Rutgers/Tennessee game also. Patricia Summit is amazing. We shall see if they can solve the best defense in the nation.
Rutgers is going into that game with all the confidence in the world. By getting this far, they feel as though they have validated their ranking. Many argued that Rutgers simply played over their heads the week they beat Texas, Tennessee, & LSU during the season. On the other hand, Tennessee is looking for payback. Should be a great regional final indeed.
Defense wins championships. Rutgers has that. But I just don't see them having a good enough half court offense to win it all. Whereas LSU has greatness on both sides of the ball. I say it comes down to LSU and Tennessee in the championship game.
I know this is a obvious statement, but wouldnt It be great to see LSU take TENN in the championship game? Even better: A last second steal for temeka johnson to win the game... Instant Classic.
