I know that Nick has the Tigers training in karate at times. Can anyone give me the details on who teaches them, what style of karate, etc. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, there was a post about it within the last week ... and a link to the ...

    Hatcher System

LSU uses the Hatcher system of strength conditioning ... and the karate use was mentioned.

Man, there's nothing tougher than a big fast guy who does enough stretching ... and karate reduces injury with the better conditioning

Its called the Hatch System after its inventor Gayle Hatch. Both OU and Miami won National Championships in their 4th year of using the Hatch System. This is LSU's 4th year of the system.

The system emphasizes the developement of both strength and quickness in the actual muscles used by the players of each position in carrying out their assignments rather than purely on the developement of raw strength.

    Thanks BB.

He wants the style of karate too. I don't remember it.

Kuk Sool Won is one of the best for stretching and developing explosive power and stamina ... it is one of the favorites in developing of boxers.

No doubt the LSU Staff has mimicked some Karate style and has their own kata and regimen of exercises.

The Advocate article did mention the style of karate but I don't remember. Maybe it was Tae Kwan Do.
