So by not playing, USC is awarded an impenetrable force field just below them in the polls. I though Dark Visor was the only Jedi Knight in college football.
Yep, the polls stink, give us a playoff!

USC shouldn't be rewarded for what they didn't do. Likewise, we should be rewarded for what we have done.

And what's with all this hype about their defense? What have they proven yet? I was watching the replay of the game this morning and the ESPN guys were talking about how good our D was, but didn't wanna put them ahead of SC's. Excuse me? I believe that our D is FAR more proven than theirs. As of now, SC's supposed defensive prowess is based on little more than hype and expectations.

The home field advantage is only worth about 3 points. Significant only in very close games.

I disagreed with the "what's wrong w/ being #2" argument. What if the top 3 team has the same record at the end of the season???? (like this didn't happen before, huh?:dis:). Being #2 means there's a chance you will be jump by #3; whereas #1 has less chance of losing out of the BCS game. AND if #2 beats #1 in the BCS and #3 beats somebody good (like Michigan :hihi:), then it's 2003 all over again... I want us to be #1 so when we beat the crap out of USC or OU, there's no argument as to who won it!

As Mushbugar and Herbie were saying last night, the SEC is the best league top to bottom but the PAC 10 is improved this year. But it's that championship game that is a killer for the loser. There are only a couple of conferences that don't have one of those, the PAC 10 being one.

So USC plays a lesser schedule and does not face a championship game. They do play some of their harder games on the road this year (although nothing like we faced last year). And who was the brilliant one at USC to put a bye on the second week? :dis: I bet their fans loved that.

At any rate, all we can do is to keep winning and let the polls be the polls. If we win all of our games there will be no question. :D

Those 2 idiots also said that USC schedule is harder cuz all their big games are away, while LSU big games are at home. That's like saying it's easier to play USC/LSU/OU/FL at home than going to play ECU/Western Carolina/Rice at their place... Home field advantage is only 3 points. If you're playing a tougher opponent at home than someone else's away game opponent - than it's still a tougher game... damn these @#$%* idiots are USC homers.:angryfire

the same people who will keep USC above us are the same people who put michigan as #5. what should we expect from them?

i have no problem with "you dont move down if you dont lose" later in the season when you can look at a long history of the season. but now at the beginning when USC has just as much right to #1 as michigan had to #5 there is no reason you cant lose places for not playing.
