The line I just saw had Tigers favored by 10. This sounds a little high to me for what I expect to be a low scoring game. Other SEC games: AUBURN -5 over georgia, ARKANSAS -9.5 over ole miss, FLORIDA -7 over south carolina, and vanderbilt -1 over KENTUCKY (home teams in CAPS).
If I was a non biased gambling man, Alabama and the Under is the play here It has worked for LSU's last 2 games (LSU's opponent and the under)
Line has already moved 3 points to LSU -7. For those of us who wager that means there is a TON of money on Bama already. For a spread to move that much in just one day means everybody and their brother is betting their house on Alabama. a Movement of 3 points thats huge...
As much as it pains me to say it, it's just a smart bet. LSU's offense will struggle against Ala. defense and vice versa. There's also Bammer's record in Tiger stadium that sways handicappers who put stock in historical trends and tendencies. Both of these teams remind me of the 2001 season when LSU was flying high with (I think) and identical record as they have this year and Bammer came in an ran all over us in a lopsided win. Hopefully, history will not repeat itself in this particular instance.
LSU is hardly "flying high" right now. It's going to be a tough game no doubt. It especially worries me that it is after a bye week, in which Saban typically has trouble keeping the team focused.
I understand your point about flying high but regardless, we've still only lost 2 games all year and still have expectations of playing in a New year's day bowl game. Flying high as compared to last year and 2000? Maybe not. Flying high as compared to 5 years ago. Definately. It's just a matter of perspective. After all, contrary to what many people that follow college football think, all that matters is winning. If you win every game on your schedule by a score of 3-0, you're still going to be a BCS team and quite possibly the NC despite not scoring more against the weaker opponents your schedule.
Spread out here first thing this morning in the San Francisco Chronicle was 7-1/2. Don't know where Randy70 saw the double digit line, but 10 is a bit much to begin with...
IN the Dallas Morning news had Open - 10 Current - 7.5 My online betting location has it at 7 now. It also started there at 10.
