    Guys,

This is not a solicitation for anything other than a name---no money, etc. Weeks ago, I signed up with the My Soldier program after seeing an article about same in Newsweek.

The program was founded by a vet who is now attending Manhattan as a way to match soldiers wanting pen pals with people looking for currently deployed soldiers to correspond with and get to know, someone to whom you could send incidentals and such that'll make things a little easier on them while they're overseas and on duty.

I received my start-up package, which was supposed to include the contact info for, well, "my" soldier. There was none.

These My Soldier folks operate on a shoestring budget and their website (www.mville.edu/mysoldier) asks that emails to them be kept specific and at a minimum. Oddly, they do not have a convenient way to report missing soldier contact info to them but they *do* have a preset feedback feature that allows you to request a specific soldier.

I figure, since I have the option now of requesting someone, that I choose a Louisiana native and, ideally, an LSU fan. I'm a former Louisiana Guardsman myself, but that was a number of years ago, so I do not know anyone personally.

If you'd like to suggest or nominate someone, feel free to send me a private message with the info. I'll edit this post to let you folks know when I've received and selected a soldier, but feel free to add comments here as you see fit.

    Thanks. :thumb:

Don't have anyone to suggest to you, but I just wanted to say that I think what you're doing is great!

    That's awesome!

Try going to local recruiting offices. Ask them which one of their recruits was the biggest Tiger fan. I assume there will be a few in Houston. They'll remember, trust me, and will be able to tell you how to contact them.
