LSU 3 UAB 4 - losses on a 2 out bunt with Hollander on 1st (after 2 wasted pop outs one of which was a bunt-gone-wrong)... who ever called this had brain fart.

Tigers are now 11-3 going into Tuesdays game against Tulane. I have been told by a friend of the roommates (Gill, Meier, and Liuzza), that Meier will be getting the start.

Just got back from the game. Can't say I'm all that confident going into Tuesday after watching today...hope they prove me wrong.

Someone who is more in the know of baseball (especially of the LSU variety) tell me what the heck is going on.

Not being able to be there, and only catching scores, I don't know much about the team. Did we lose a lot of Seniors? Do we have a lot of Freshmen playing that just need experience? Is Skip moving players around looking for the right line-up and just not found it yet?

    Inquiring minds want to know.

No, I guess that was just a wishful thinking slip!!! I like Smoke, but I got addicted to baseball watching the Tigers when they were being coached by the Skipper!!!

It's either that or I plead "blonde moment"!

    How embarrassing!!!

From talking to my friend just now, its all in our coaching. Not bashing Smoke, but he isn't doing what he needs to with our pitching staff. Plus, who calls a sac bunt to move Hollander in scoring position (from Hebert, who has sucked at the plate)... think they shoulda subbed in Mayer or one of our big hitters. We always have a highly touted pitching class come in and we never really solidify. We have a decent offense but no real leaders b/c Gill is still injured. The only players really dong it this year are Clay, and Stav.

Don't be an idiot. The pitching has been good enough to win every game. 2 runs today were unearned. The bats haven't warmed up yet. It's as simple as that. Pitching is always ahead of hitting early in the year.

Amen. But I will agree with sabanfan that the bats will get better throughout the season.

The bats should get better, but one can't ignore the fact that baserunning, situational bunting, and run support has really fallen off over the last few years.

Can you imagine how good Mestepey would have been on one of those mid-90's teams with 10-15 runs behind him? I know the game has changed since then, but we need to get the bats going in these non-conf games...
